512x4 or 1GBx2?

On my mobo I currently habe 512x2 Samsung DDR400. I want to upgrade to 2GB. I'd rather buy two more sticks of 512 (same make if I can find it) and go on. Question is, at my current clock settings would two more 512 sticks effect my overclock any? If I need to I'll buy two 1 gig sticks, but I'd rather not.

With four sticks you'll need to drop your Command rate to 2T.

Also, some boards are a bit finicky with four sticks, not sure about yours.

If I decide to go to 2GB, I'm going to 2x1GB's - less headaches . . . .

I understand AMD 64's hate 2T, looks like I'm going with 1GBx2 - Does Geil make good ram? Newegg has 1GBx2 Geil Value with heat spreaders for $201.

Not familair with Geil personnally. Generally I think OCZ, Mushkin, Corsair, and a few others are best.

I've always used Micron (older Systems) or Corsair, so hopefully someone more familiar with Geil can help there.

Geil is fine. If your getting that OC w/Generic RAM, you'll probably get higher with Geil.

look into crucial valuram...mines is running 250mhz 2 x 1gb @3-3-3-7-1t on dfi sli dr ..623-2 ...yellow slots

Geil is good RAM.
