the dauerrotype was the first man in teh photo, purely by accident...the exposure was about 8 + hours and the ma happened to be getting a shoe shine , so he was standing still. Still, the first photo ever taken. It was taken during a busy day in paris .. I think.
the muybridge one was taken as a bet from a rich man....his bet was 20,000$ that the horse does not leave the ground as it gallops. So Mybridge set up 10 cameras along the horse track and he shot the pictures as the horse galloped by to prove that the horse does indeed get off the ground.
