Looking at replacing our current 47" in the living room which will be moved into the bedroom to replace an aging 42". Open living that doesn't receive much natural light, most watch sports, movies and use in conjunction with an 360/PS3.

Planning to spend around $1100-$1500 and was looking at the following:

Panasonic P55ST50

LG LM6700

Sharp LC60C6400U

Samsung N55ES6580F

From what I can gather.. the Panasonic will be the best PQ wise. Anyone have any comments/suggestions?

I just got the Panasonic on Wednesday and I'm working too many hours to play with it yet but out of the box it's looking great. Had a 42" 720P Panasonic before this for almost 8 years and it's still a great TV and will be donating it to an old age home.
I have ordered one set of Samsung 4100 and Panasonic TY-ER3D4MU glasses and The Avengers 3d and they should be getting here next week and I can play with them..... If I have the time

i'm about to purchase a 60" tv myself and am 99% leaning towards the ST50 in 60" model.

a lot of it is due to the input lag being minimal on it, but it also has rave reviews as far as picture quality goes.

Went with the 55" ST50. Got a real good price on it locally. Doing panel prep now to try the D-Nice settings.

i've been hearing about D-Nice panel prep slides/settings a bunch over on AVS but don't know anything about it.

what exactly is the benefit/point of doing it?

From what I've read.. the panel prep is to allow the pixels to age evenly for the first hundred hours and the D-Nice settings are tailored to the post-prep aged pixels.. I also read on AVS that it doesn't make a difference for some so I don't really know.

I plan on using Disney WoW to calibrate as well to see which I like better.

ah okay, i'll make an account there tonight and check it out later on.

im gonna be getting the 60" st50 real soon so i may look into doing the calibration.

i got a 50" LG plasma on labor day and did nothing to it prep wise, and man the picture on it is just so crisp.

my main tv downstairs is an old dlp from 2004, and last night my wife and i were watching gladiator on TNT in HD, and went to finish watching it in our bedroom where the 50" plasma is. the picture between the 2 tv's is noticeably better on the plasma. it is like night and day. and that isn't to say the pic on my DLP is bad at all, the pic on there is great too.

it's my first plasma and i'm impressed.

Just FYI I got both sets of glasses and the movie from Amazon last night. I feel the Panasonics are the best for me because of the side shields for blocking light.... the 30min charge (good for 30hrs) using USB is also nice. The Samsungs worked great also I just didnt like the light comming in from the side. I only used them for about 20min but will post back later if anyone has any questions.

Samsungs were around $19
Panasonics around $49

I just got the 65 inch ST50 a week ago and its amazing. It makes my 2010 Samsung Plasma just look terrible in comparison. Motion is great, blacks are great. And I am just using cinema mode.

Well one thing to report that I have to look into....

When I have the TV set up for WiFi it steals all the bandwith from our smart phones.

How can that be? Wouldn't your router control the bandwidth for all connected devices?

It's taking the address of my desktop when I shut it down, my laptop wont connect nor will her android or my iphone... like I said I have to look into it yet. I just took it off the net and I'm using my Sony blueray player for now.

65hr work weeks... tv can wait

Picked up a Panny ST65 a couple weeks back. I came from a Sony 46" and was thinking of going for a Samsung 65" LED. Im so glad i went with the plasma. Best money ive spent this year. Picture quality, super black blacks, just pure awesome mounted on the wall and such. It so aesthetically pleasing and i'm super happy with it!

I bought the 65" ST for gaming and football in September. PS3 and XBOX (all types of games from Sports, FPS, RPG you name it) and sports of all sorts mainly Football and Basketball.

YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

well my tv will be here tomorrow (60" ST50) and i'm excited about it.

only thing is i won't be able to actually use it for about 4 days because I plan on doing the d-nice panel preparation since everyone raves about it.

The d-nice settings aren't bad. I may need to adjust the brightness but I still need to do the calibration with Disney WoW to see which I like better.

My GF refused to let the TV stay on just panel prep when we got it, so we did watch football and a few TV shows during the first 100 hours.. I'd say around 15 hours worth of TV time.

the prep is to run his slides for 100 hours. 4 days = 96 hours, so it'll be that and some change. gonna leave it running in an spare room and probably cut it off every night for like 30 minutes just to give it a breather.

as someone who's never prep'ed a tv before i am only doing this because i read about it on AVS and those guys know more about this stuff than i ever will heh.

overall how are you liking the picture though? do you think the prep actually helped it out a lot or you think it's overrated?

That was the reason I did it as well - everyone else was. I don't know whether it helped a lot. My untrained eye can't tell.

haha ok. yea if i can supposedly 'evenly break in' the pixels then i'll do it. im going to be gaming quite a bit on mine so if it is supposed to help, so be it. i waited this long, what is 4 more days heh.
