I have the Samsung ones. Was told they would work and all the reviews on Amazon seem to confirm it. Have yet to try it.. I have no 3D movies yet.
I bought thr 65" ST50 in Sept from Amazon for 2099 and couldnt be happier.
Ran the panel prep for 100 hours with a fan facing the back and used the custom settings provided by D Nice. I change the brightness/color slightly for SUnday NFL but use his settings all other times.

I'm keeping an eye out for your thoughts/impressions. I haven't joined that forum yet...the prep is to run his slides for 100 hours. 4 days = 96 hours, so it'll be that and some change. gonna leave it running in an spare room and probably cut it off every night for like 30 minutes just to give it a breather.
yea mine is in the guest bedroom so it's not distracting really, although i do have the door open just to keep some kind of air flow going. just feels weird keeping a tv on for 4 days straight lol, almost like i'm expecting something to go wrong with it, even though i know it will be fine.

i just picked up the P55ST50 for $1025. I got best buy to price match panasonic.com's employee price program. about 14 hours into the dnice picture slides now. should be done just in time for football on sunday... except that the eagles have a bye week. guess i'll just watch some blu ray movies
I did no panel prep on my 65" ST50. I've had it since the end of september though, and i'm sure i've put it through at least 100 hrs of use (is there even a way to check it? Couldn't find it in the settings). Have I doomed my set in the process? Or is it not that big of a deal?
Panel prep is only recommended if you are planning to use D-Nice's settings. The idea behind it is, D-Nice (a calibrator) goes through the same process with his own panel and then calibrates it. Theoretically, if you use the same process, you can simply enter his calibration numbers after running the slides which should give you results similar to his.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of the slides and have never used them.

100 hrs using the slides accelerates the aging process of the panel (which is the whole point of the slides). So 100 hrs of normal usage is much different than 100 hrs using the slides. But if you plan to use his settings, I'd run the slides and then enter his settings. Otherwise the results may not be as accurate. Like the other have said though, you can simply plug in his settings without going through the prep process. You're not going to damage anything.
If you want my personal recommendation, I'd run the panel normally and then do a proper calibration after about 300 hrs. You'll get better results that way. The downside, the cost of a good calibrator is not cheap. WELL worth it though.
