I just got a A7V133A and a duron 800... i'm just running it stock at 8x100 @ 1.58V and it is HOT... i have a thermaltake silver orb on it... with some ASII.. but not a lot

I know you'll probably say a new HSF and more thermal compounds.... if not correct me... but if so.. what's the most economical way to do this? what is a pretty good but not too expesnive HSF and some thermal stuff?

oh and for those of you who O/Ced the A7V + duron 800, what's the best setting that would run stable and not overheat?
thanks!

ORB's arent that effective IMHO and no, adding more thermal compound wont make it MORE effective. place only a small amount and use the card trick to spread it. also, you could try lapping your heatsink... it might help a bit. Good luck!

its an issue of it being stable in the first place. if your OS hangs a lot.... then its too hot. Try adding case fans or tidying up your case components a bit. Mine is 50C @ full load, and it's fine. Theres no harm in lowering those temperatures though.

The area on the die that touches the heatsink is the only area which conducts heat from the CPU to the HS. Adding more thermal compound will not make the area bigger. Since HS's dont always have smooth bottoms, the contact is reduced somewhat. Thermal compound assures that the gaps between will be filled to try and make a better heat transfer. Anyway, my answer is, a little will do. Check out Arctic Silver's website. They have a detailed instruction on how to apply their product.
