560 Ti 448 vs 570 vs 7850

What is the best bang for the buck card between the following?
Right now, the choices for me are:

$240 - MSI GTX 560 Ti 448 1280MB Twin Frzr III
$270 - Sapphire ATI 7850 2048MB
$270 - Galaxy GTX 570 1280MB

I'll be playing BF3 and D3 and CS GO (when they come out) at 1920x1080 maxed out. The system will be used for purely gaming, no encoding at all, and no intentions of SLI/XFire.

The MSI card obviously has the best reviews in terms of cooling and overclocking capability but will the extra VRAM with the 7850 help future-proof the card or is my resolution too low?

I'll second this.

The 7850 Pitcairn is the most modern .28nm DirectX 11.1 video card and has the VRAM to maximize BF3 at 1080P Ultra.

All of the above cards will probably be overkill for either Diablo 3 or CS : GO at that resolution, so you can't really go wrong.

If you can wait a couple of months until those games actually come out, May for D3 and June for CS : GO, there might actually be some competition from nVidia with some GTX 600 series cards.

448 is faster than 7850 and cheaper.

448 is only 3% slower than 570 and 15% cheaper.

Only cards with better bang for the buck are less like 560ti and 6870 and that's the way it always works. The higher you go, worst bang for the buck.

One thing about this card is it has 6 + 2 phase power (high end) which those other will not have. And has quietest cooler and high end PCB.

FYI that's higher than the highest stocked clocked GTX 580's like classifieds and lightnings.

If the only difference between 560-448 and 7850 is $40 of price, I'd go with 7850. You'll save way more than $40 over a couple of years' usage of both cards and gtx 560-448 is a twice picked over castoff card.

So they say. Perhaps nV had a lot if chips laying around they coudnt sell after 7900s came out and released 448? Nothing I've seen so far indicated they are picked over since they clock so high relative to their cousins.

7850's still slower and more. Just say no to 7850 until AMD lowers to $229 and never pay MSRP.

As a man who thought people who complained about AMD drivers were crazy, I have to now say that NVIDIA's stuff "just works" and will be more hassle free. GTX 560 Ti 448, dude. Do it.

And power. Bryan has a good point there. Over the long haul 448 will cost more. And if you only have say a 450 W PSU I'd get 7850.

I've never once had an issue with drivers on an amd card. And how many of you guys are going to pay the extra power costs to the OP when he buys the 560 448? It's about 100w extra at load, and performance is very nearly identical. In this case, newer really is better unless the OP plays a lot of portal 2 or dirt3.

It's not very nearly identical. It's ~ 7% slower stock and if he OC's both it goes to 15% because 448 OC's from a lower MHz point to same. 448 simply has more IPC and OCs well. The 7850 doesnt because thus far no Manufacturer has placed two 6 pins on it to give nessesary power to unleash it.

The card in particular he is looking at is higher end all around. 8 phase power, thicker PCB, better quieter cooling.

I'd get the 7850, just for the peace of mind, - knowing, that I won't have to dump extra heat into my case on a hot summer day. Idle power consumption should also be much lower. But, if you want the raw speed and plan to overclock, and don't care about the thermals.., 448 is a better card.

Newegg had this one at $ 259 the other day, back up to $ 299. Amazon wins with this one. As for the choice OP, one can't argue the 7850 makes a good choice for long term power savings while offering more memory.

As for these MSI 448's, I can say they overclock like mad and barely break 60c under load with good case cooling. Using Afterburner, I add a mere .50mV to core voltage to get 880 core with my SLI pair. That's serious performance at $ 259.

Good luck with your choice OP. Looks like 7850 at $ 259 is selling out on Newegg.

The GTX 560 Ti will probably be faster if you get a good overclocker, and therefore will have a better price/performance ratio. However, the 7850 will be just as fast realistically and will use less power. Add in perks for the 7850 like 2GB vRAM and being a newer GPU, I'd go with the 7850.

Don't forget that when the 7850 drops in price over time you can add another one, and have some pretty monstrous performance with 2 of them in xfire.
