I get connected @ 52000 bps with my 56K 3Com US Robatics WinModem:
THis is for people who are complaining that they have 36K Modems, 56K Modems are free after mail in rebates virtually everywhere now why dont you get one AFTER ALL ITS FREE ; )
A good place to get one is either best buy or circuit city..
Yes Bacillus I do have two BT Phone lines and I have tried both! 1 is used for the internet and the other one is used for normal phone calls. I have tried both lines and they are both at the saem speed. I have asked for BT to turn my gain up as well a few weeks back but not help!
Albert.
Me need help with my poor modems... WOOHAHAHAH!!! The USR WInmodem is going to get replaced soon when I build my own computer! Maybe it is just an old modem that I have got right now...
I connect from 50666 to 53333, usually 52000. I have a 3com internet gaming modem. But thats with gaming mode off. With it on I connect at 48000, but I really can tell no difference in ping so i leave it off.
A2KLAU, sounds like BT has DACSed your lines! in everyday terms they've got 2 lines out of the 1 you originally had thereby lowering the speed on both lines for your modem. the problem is the line not your modem.
IMO,very sneaky thing to do especially as they don't warn you of this even though they advertise getting the 2nd line for the internet!
That is very sneeky of them! I might have to ring thm up sometime! But I got a feeling it is more my modems than the Line cause I told BT to up my gain which means that I should get more speed out of them! Actually I think it could be my modems cause they might not be V.90 which means I am stuck with 33,600?! That could be a possibility! Why I think this is because I took my laptop to a friend's house and I got exactly the same connection speed.
