FSStrike:
You I'm going to respond to, because just like days gone by, you're especially silly:
Anyone that knows how to use "Search" can see how I can "never" win a debate with you, FSStrike. Try "5800" key word with FSStrike as the author and prepare to laugh.
The 5800U was a flat our failure.
It beat the card it was designed to compete against at many benchmarks.
If it wasnt a failure, it wouldnt of been cancelled and taken off the market so fast. If nVidia thinks its a failure, everyone thinks its a failure, why dont you?
Everyone thinks it's a failure? How about DHC, trying to buy one for his brother now? How about DaPunisher? How about all the guys at nVNews who love them, like mod Rage?
You love to lie to yourself, and I cant understand why?
I'm just not a doofus with some inane need to put down the 5800U, especially one that was using a bargain basement Ti 4200 on a bargain basement P4 1.4 when he started bashing equipment that was twice as good as he had?
And it wasnt hard for the 5800U to be second best in the world, it only had 1 serious competitor.
I've got news for you FS: gpus are a multimillion dollar inustry. There are many trying to compete, the fact that only one company does successfully doesn't diminish the accomplishment.
By your "logic" no one should have considered an ATI card for gaming until the 9700Pro, because they were always second, and hey, that sucks, right? Wrong Capt. Socrates. Plenty of us used and enjoyed our Rage MAXXs, VIVOs, and 8500s.
If someone is in a 100yard dash, against 4 people, and only one of them is serious, you would assume they would come in 2nd. Who else did nVidia have to beat? XGI? Matrox? Common, its only real competitor was ATI. It came 2nd, and 2nd in a game of 2 is LAST (2/2 is LAST).
Like I said, because the others aren't able to compete at their level, doesn't diminish the accomplishment. I'll try to put it into a simple analogy that you might be able to understand, ol buddy:
If all the other NFL quarterbacks except Brett Favre and Peyton Manning died in plane crashes tomorrow and had to be replaced by undrafted players who looked like schmucks in comparison, Favre wouldn't be a "failure" if he had had a slightly lower quarterback rating than Manning. He'd still be second best in the world at what he did, he'd still be at a level much higher than others are able to achieve.
Like I said FS, what do you do that you're so quick to judge the horrible "failure" of the 5800Us arguable second place? If you're a student, are you the valedictorian? If you're in the workplace, are you reknowned?
Or are you just another schmuck warming a chair somewhere, wallowing in mediocrity, ranting about the perceived shortcomings of the work of your betters? You
still haven't answered the question.
"Omg I am 1337 i came 2nd out of 2 yay mommy arnt I good".
Nice grammar there, Big Chief.
No one even takes you seriously anymore, because you just post pathetic useless garbage and its all the exact same.
No one, huh? You speak for everyone now FS? Or are you just jumping on Jiffy's coattails and echoing his sentiment like a simpleton?
"nVidia is amazing, I love my 5800, the 6800 is my daddy".
I reiterate:
In the last few months, I have:
1. Posted 6800NU benches before anyone else had one
2. Posted Doom3 benchmarks on 2 popular cards before anyone else had Doom3
3. Posted Far Cry SM3 benchmarks weeks and weeks before the patch went public
4. Posted extensive comparisons of 5800U vs 6800NU vs 6800GT
5. Posted various 6800GT at NU speeds benchmarks by request to help people see if the Rivatuner pipeline unlocking would help
Etc.
What have
YOU done for the community, FSStrike? Provide links please, I think you know I can easily link to all the above. How are you helping AT out, by coming here and trolling me? Whining about how you hate the 5800U? Good job- we needed that.
It just goes on and on and on and on and on and on... You get the idea. Just stfu, no one gives a crap about your old 5800.
1387 hits on this thread Big Chief. I doubt you can start a thread and get that many views. Apparently
someone is interested in the 5800.
Just get it through your head, the 5800 was a FAILURE. End of Story.
LOL, no, I think it was a success. Uh oh- even after you said "End of story". I guess I just didn't believe your bizarre video card nazi attempts to convince me I didn't love playing with the 5800U while I had it. Go figure- must not have conveyed your argument very convincingly Big Chief. Better luck next time.
