Being number 1 at 3DMarks doesn't necessarily make you an authority on anything, it makes you able to afford the fastest hardware.

It's interesting how I haven't seen the "lack of FSAA" explored on any reputable sites, only in threads like this.

It's also interesting how when I turn the FSAA off and on I can see the difference (even in the distance) when it's supposedly not doing anything.

Guess I'll have to disagree with Macci, best 3dmark or no. Maybe AT could do an article?

Rollo: Glad to hear that the FX5800 gets pretty good Doom 3 performance since it means that my FX5700 will likely get pretty good performance as well.

Everyone else: If you think he's such a troll don't bother responding to him, it only gives him reason to continue trolling because he knows he is being paid attention to. It's kind of sad, yes, but big deal, just let them be and they go away generally speaking.

those lines are not at the edges of polygons so AA has nothing to do with that, it is an AF issue. And yes your gforce fx does have beter AF than the geforce6s, it also has beter AF than any radeon; and the geforce3 has better AF than any of them.

You can't call it AF since AA seems to fall off like that. Notice how lines are perfectly smooth at front, then jaged like AA is'nt even working in the middle, then smoth again futher in the background.

So Rolla you don't notice any "poor texture shimmering, cralling, texture alizing, and what I call, AA fall off" with your card? That's fine maybe you should LHK. However, the forums are littered with them problems by hella knowlegable peoples. I tend to agree with them which is how I found these threads in the first place.. I went looking for em' cause athough I sold my 9800pro I still have 5700U and 5950 to compare and the GT seemed worse. I've tried about 7 drivers and still can't get rid of this "pier ghosting effect": Text

Anyway, I don't believe reviewers on these IQ concerns only cause it takes real work to chart and analyse them vs. just running some time demos and walking away.

I'm calling it an AF issue since it is on the texture were texture filtering takes care of alising, not the edge of a polygon where AA could have an effect. You could turn the AA completely off on the radeon and those lines would still look fine becuase the AF is doing a good job there.
