Question 5800X3D seems to be going away

Hi,

I was just calculating a new build for one my customers. At the same time I also told him that his processor can be upgraded (currently 3600X).
I was checking the price of 5800X3D from our distributor but it could not be found anymore. I also checked 2 big retailers (here in Finland) and same thing.

5700X3D seems to be the only option now at least here.

Seems like it's not in stock in a lot of places, yes. But 5700X3D is more affordable and performs very close to 5800X3D, so not a big loss. Both chips lack overclocking support btw

The GOAT is being retired slowly . What an absolute unit of a gaming CPU, and it even became faster with the latest W11 updates!

They wont retire something that is that much profitable, they would start with all the other AM4 chips, thing is that if demand exceed supply by just 10% for a single month then it will be out of stock in most places.

Edit : It already happened months ago for the whole AM4 line up, Mindfactory
had no AM4 SKUs during a few weeks excepted an old 3600.

Of course, if a retailer dont know when and if he can replenish his inventory he wont even state that it s out of stock, it will just disappear from his listings.

Eventually there was a surge in the demand that exhausted most of AMD s inventories as the AM4 CPUs are still going strong, and earlier this year AMD stated that they got an unexpected high demand for AM4 SKUs.

At Mindfactory they account for 30% of AMD CPUs sales in volume, so just imagine in countries with lower average income, in Poland that s something like 50-60% IIRC.
