Ok as far as I've read the 5850 is one of the few (only?) graphics cards that can run 3 monitors simultaneously, assuming at least one is run from DisplayPort. I have also read that one DisplayPort can power more than one monitor at a time.
I currently have a 37" LCD TV with DVI, D-Sub, and HDMI inputs, that I want to use with two Dell U2311H monitors. I want to power it with a XFX HD-585X-ZAFC Radeon HD 5850 1GB graphics card.
I've read that DP offers better resolutions than the other technologies, so is it possible to power the two Dell displays from the one DP and then the HDTV via HDMI? I want all 3 displays to be used as separate displays.
Eyefinity isn't important right now, but assuming the above is possible then I would also assume that down the road I could pick up a 3rd U2311H monitor and power it from the same DisplayPort and do Eyefinity accross the 3.
Are my assumptions correct?
