5870/5850/5770/5750 stocking status

I'm not complaining about the $10 difference between XFX and other brands. The warranty is worth it. I'm talking about the $50 mark-up because of these damn supply issues. I'll wait til January. I'm buying my pieces as I get the money anyway, so it'd just sit here til at least then anyway.

I don't see a price cut coming until nVidia's new cards are released... and only if those cards undercut AMD's prices.

No worries man. Just reiterating what others were trying to point out. You never know, some people see the 2 in the front of the price versus a 3 and freak out even though it's 299 vs 309, lol.

I agree on the markup, wish I would've snagged one earlier. I'd be shocked if Nvidia matches the price on the 5800's though, so I'm not seeing these getting any cheaper soon.

Trust me it wasn't easy for me to give up on mean green, I've had a love affair with them for awhile and my last ATI experience (after my 9700 pro) ended in disaster so I've still got a sour taste in my mouth for ATI. Hopefully this bad boy will change all that

I guess Nvidia can keep their PhysX to accurately render one of their arse-cheeks before and after AMD/ATI kicking it

I guess they are seeing how high they can push the envelope. Makes you wonder what the price will be on the 5870 when it finally comes back into stock (currently they have it at $380).

The economy can't be too terrible if people are willing to pay 46% above original MSRP for such non-essentials.

Most folks who have a life wouldn't even know what a 5850 is or why it's worth $250 of their money.

Trust me, in this economy, the "only" (okay to be fair, the word "majority" would be better) people buying an over-priced GPU are people who don't have to worry about being laid off, paying rent/mortgage, etc. Of course there are also some people who would buy one who are just foolish with their money, live paycheck to paycheck and run up revolving credit. In either case, it's not like buying one of these right now is at all a -smart- thing to do.
