Holy crap! I just purchased that same card from Newegg yesterday for $428 shipped! I'd say keep hitting the Refresh button on Newegg and give ZZF a miss until they return to reality (or unless you're looking for your daily dose of humor).

I seen a 5850 HIS on the egg yesterday, I bought it at $319. Probably a bit too expensive but I figured what the hell.

I don't know if I will even open it as I dont play any games which even use it's power. (Civilization, Aion, TF2 are the only games I've played in the last 60 days) and the 4850 works just fine for them.

Dunno maybe I'll just resell it. =P

Well, they sold out of the $900 5970 and the $630 Vapor-X over the weekend so it must have been some good stuff!

Which makes me wonder if the $1000 5970 and the $700 Vapor-X are that far away.. hmm.

I can not think of a worse time to be in the enthusiast video card market than right now.

It was a lot more fun when there were more than just two GPU manufacturers to choose from.

I was very happy to pay $259 when the 5850 first came out, and was okay with paying $314 for my second. Average price of $287 for this card with no tax is a good deal. The problem is that a lot of people were expecting this card to drop to the $200 to $220 range instantly, and that never happens, regardless of competitors.

I'm getting my backordered $250 XFX 5850 from TIGER tomorrow.
So guys in a month you'll see prices drop down on all 5800 series cards like it was before,
i mean first MF prices and +rebates.
Don't buy them now.

If it never happens, then why would people expect that to happen? I knew the prices were probably going to stay at MSRP until Christmas, but I (and other people) didn't expect it to go up 30% to 40%.

I tried to buy a 5850 not too long after launch for ~$250 (after BCB) at ewiz, but they didn't actually have any in stock then cancelled my backorder, but by then it was too late for me to find another even close to MSRP.

I just called PCConnection.com and the sales representative told me that they are expecting stock of the XFX Radeon HD 5970 HD597ACNF9 sometime today on Wednesday, December 9, 2009. The quantity is unknown, but it's worth a try for anyone willing to wait the next few hours.
