I bought the card at Circuit City. The rebate prints out at the register. It is a $100 rebate. I got the 110% pricematch at another circuit city with no problems - they weren't even aware of the $100 rebate.

NOTE: If the shelf tag says nothing about a $100 rebate, then chances are that your store does not have the rebate yet in their system. Find a store that does have it on the shelf tag.

The rebate address is :

CC REBATE #03-66614
P.O. Box 540004
EL PASO, TX 88554-0004

www.rebateshq.com

Buy it at one circuit city, get the rebates, and leave the store. Make copies of your receipt and rebate forms. Go back to Circuit City (preferably another store so they won't remember you got the $100 rebate form) and price match to Compusa's advertised price of $249. Get back the 110% difference and send in the rebate with the original COPY of your UNMARKED receipt. Hopefully Circuit City will give you the $100 rebate making your total purchase $135 + taxes.

P.S. - One problem I see with this is that the rebate wants the original UPC off of the box. This card has no UPC on the box. The UPC is located on the card itself, through a clear plastic window. There is a proof-of-purchase thing on the side of the box. I assume you would send that in instead of the UPC sticker on the card. (The UPC sticker says "Warranty void if removed").

P.P.S - Another problem is making copies of the 2-feet-long receipt and rebate form. Good God, why does CC make their printouts so L-O-N-G ?!?!?!?

Tried this deal today, but the CSR was bright enough to check things out, and gave me a 110% price match AFTER REBATES. Wound up saving a little less than $10, almost took care of the taxes (ours are only 4.7% here ). Thought it would go down this way, with a chance to get another $55 or so back if I happened to stumble upon a boob CSR. Bad luck, but I'm OK with that. I guess they are more careful with large PMs. Looks like these cards may be BF fodder, so there may be another chance for a price match . Awesome card BTW, only 50MHz less on the core, same memory speed as the Ultra, no VIVO, 128MB less of memory, and minus some games I would never play (judging from my past video card purchases). Those cuts are not worth extra $250 at all, you may get another 15% bump in speed, for more than 2X the price.

Yup, I'm with Gibster, although I was sure hoping to make the extra $35 or so, like DVDude mentions. BTW, CC CSR was kind enough to print an extra copy of receipt right at the register. Even so, I am not sure I will keep it due to lack of VIVO. I am replacing a dead GF4 4600 that had VIVO and it sure was nice to be able to capture old VHS and VHS-C tapes and put them on CD (eventually DVD). Now I have to find a different solution or go with 5950 Ultra, but I am just not ready to plunk down $400+ on a vid card. I was very happy with that 4600...

Oh yeah... any specs like memory speed (2.2 vs. 2.4 vs. 2.8), etc.

TIA

I got in on the deal along with the $100 Mail-In Rebate as well.

DVDdude,

Any idea who is actually handling the rebate? I called rebateshq.com and they said that it's not one of their addresses. I'm gonna call consumer affairs tomorrow and see what I can find out.

I purchased one at CC for $253 out the door after PM. I also recieved a $100 rebate form, $153 for a 5900 is not bad. My only problem is deciding if I should replace my 9500 pro with the 5900.

(This was posted on that other site)

Circuit city's pricematch policy is quite vague and somewhat deceptive. After being told at a local store that pricematch and $100 rebate was not possible, I placed a call to corporate customer service for an explanation. Basically, the company line is that, if Circuit City offers a rebate on a given product, you can either A. receive that rebate or B. pricematch against a competitors standard retail price. However, you cannot opt to do both. This basically makes their pricematch worthless in this case, since CompUSA's $199 AR price is lower than option A ($299) or option B ($234). Of course, what they're saying does not exactly gel with the official pricematch policy posted on their web site. Nowhere on their site does it say that you cannot pricematch AND submit a rebate for a given item.

I also called corporate HQ and asked them to fix the wording, since the pricematch policy as-is is quite deceptive. But I doubt they'll do so.

Here is a question about the rebate itself:

They want the UPC symbol from the box. There is no frickin UPC symbol on the box, it's on the card, visible through a plastic window when the card is inside. Wonder what kind of genius came up with that idea. I'm sure as heck not ripping it off my card. There is a lame proof of purchase tab inside the box - will that be enough? I'm thinking of just scanning the card and sending that to them. Not to mention they want the original receipt, but with CC storing the transactions, this is probably OK.

BTW if it hasn't been mentioned yet, a nice little bonus is the card comes with a copy of Splinter Cell as well.

Woo Hoo! OK so after reading through this thread I decided to take a chance and go out to my local CC. Well while checking out I managed to get the PM. The first receipt printed out and then..... nothing.... darn..... OK so I signed anyway hoping to get more info off the original receipt (it was pretty long), then suddenly, the 2nd receipt printed out with the rebate form! Yeay! Then the girl at the check out looked at it and said: " I don't think I can give this to you since you price matched the item, but I will check". OK so I started sweating again, so close to victory and yet just out of my grasp...... crap. So she went behind the counter and asked a CSR. I hear him say....."Sure why not, more power to the customer." Once again YEAY! So she says OK and starts reading the rebate form in an effort to explain to me how to claim the rebate. For some reason she thought that I needed another receipt for the rebate form (not knowing the receiept and form are one) and so the other CSR helps her again and then says...... "wow how much did he price match for?" Once again..... oh crap. Then I hear him say "wow a $400 video card for $248 and then a $100 rebate. Are you sure you pricematched CompUSA's retail price?" And she answers "yes". And then he says....... "Wow, I should go buy one!"

Once again: "YEAY!" So I walk out with PM, rebate form, and best of all, MY NEW FX 5900! Asuming they pay up with the rebate, this deal rocks! I was about to spring for the $176 deal that BUY.COM had last week (now selling for $210 AR). Good thing I waited. Thanks Slatr!

Worked like a charm! Purchased at one CC and got the 110% pricematch at another. I e-mail'd rebateshq.com to ask what "UPC" they wanted off the box and will update you when I get a response. Splinter Cell played flawlessly on the new card!

Hey thats awesome for you! Do you think you could share the rebate's details with us? Maybe scan it and host it somewhere on a freeserver as well?

I just am lost in finding the rebates in many places.

wow not bad... if you can get all that price matching thing to work and actually get to receive the rebate. btw how are these cards compared to a 9700 Pro? I just bought a new OEM 9700 Pro off Ebay (impulse buy) for $193.50. Donno if it was worth it or if I shoulda went for this deal too.

edit - the price of the card has gone up to $279.99 @ compusa

If you have a 9700 Pro then a 5900 isn't an issue at all unless you want to downgrade.
