5900 Ultra + Anti-Aliasing = flicker?

Just got my Asus 5900 Ultra a few days ago.
One thing I've noticed that's really annoying is that whenever I enable AA in games, I get low-refreshrate-like flickering which ends up hurting my eyes after a while. This is especially annoying since the sweet spot for games like BF1942 seems to be 1280x960 with 4xAA (which my monitor does at 100Hz).

I've tried finding more information about this problem and found a thread on the forums here about it but it had little information and a few dead links.

Any info on what the cause of this/ how to resolve it would be appreciated.

That sounds bad. Especially since you have a $500.00 GPU.

Actually that card can be had for about 420.00 but thats beside the point.

My monitor is a Samsung 900NF but that's also beside the point. Anyone aware of the causes/solutions to this problem?

I get this too...
but it only affects my second monitor in certain games...

this is a widely known issue... there was this page on the inquirer about it

Just did a little more testing, the problem exhibits itself with no AA enabled at 1600x1200 in BF1942 (My monitor does 85Hz at 1600 which is also my desktop resolution so I'm positive this flickering is only present in the game). The game runs fine but after a few minutes the flickering gets extremely irritating.

I always mention this when I see somebody post about flicker problems, just because I never know when it might actually help...or not.

I had that problem before. Increased my AGP aperature size and it fixed the problem.

What do you set it to? I have mine set at 256.

Can you check your refresh rates in game from your monitors osd. Make sure it's not going back to 60Hz when you play games.

My aperature had to be increased from 128 to 256. Although, I have read literature indicating that some problems are also cured by lowering your aperature size. You've got nothing to lose by lowering it to see if that solves the problem.

I checked the refreshes and they are indeed correct in games, going to try changing the aperture when I get a chance to reboot.

I don't know much about the flickering problem, but I did stumble upon this article at the INQ. There's a link to a thread where people are talking about the problem.

Setting the aperture didn't change anything (tried 4m, 16m, 64m, 128 and 256m).

After more testing, the problem is there in all resolutions 1280 and up, AA or no AA. From all the forums posts I've read this seems to be a hardware problem, more precisely cheap power connectors interfering with the display or something to that effect.

This problem also seems to be affecting cards from many manufacturers not just Asus.
