I have adjusted the teams slightly: RTThurman has been moved to the Yetis and QuietDad to the Snowmen. Now at least the starting configuration is reasonable.

The race is on. Lets us all crunch.

No, it is not. See the rules in the Original Post. As long as I may recruit you to my team!
You are in the stat now ...! Is that OK? ()

That seems low, for two days now I've had both crunchers going, one showing 15K and the other showing 27K PPD.

That's an academic discussion now though, I think I may have burned out a fan or two, or perhaps the PSU is going, as I felt the case and it doesn't seem to be pushing as much air as it used to, and one of the GPUs was 99C!

So something was definately wrong. (My 45W AMD CPU was showing 57C, which is way high too.)

So I shut down the quad-GPU cruncher until I can get it working again.

Edit: I fired it back up again. It seems that the top-mounted 140mm fan in the Antec 300 is still moving air, just barely. I'm trying to remember if I set the fans on High or Low the last time I worked on it.

It's 80F in the room, so it's pretty warm, but would that make GPU temps raise 10C too?

I just hope I don't burn out a GPU. EVGA Precision has a nasty error, if you manually set fan speed to 100%, sometimes one GPU looses teh setting, and drops down to the lowest fan speed setting, and won't raise with temps, because the fans aren't on auto. So your GPU burns up.

Edit: Shut it down again. Some fan is making strange noises. Hopefully it's not the fan on GPU2. For some reason, that GPU was like 5-8C higher than the other ones. I didn't think that I would need to change out the fans before the race.

Edit: Now I'm having second thoughts about folding in general. So much spent on hardware, so much hassle. Especially when the hardware fails (not Stanford's fault, obviously).

This rig was working just fine a week ago. Harumpf.

GTS450 up and running the gpu3 client. I allowed large units, but avoided the advanced methods (didn't those units run the GPU really hot?).

Any other suggestions on the client (client parameters to input)?

And is there is a nice way to track the progress of the GPU client?

Thanks all.

If I remember correctly -bigadv is for SMP2 clients only, with a lot of special qualifications. If a -bigadv wu is not available, it will default to -advmethods.

See this thread: Link

Without the -bigadv or -advmethods flags they will get regular WU's.

I use HFM.net to monitor all my clients now.

Go to 'edit' > 'preferences' > 'startup & external' > check 'load config file' and direct it to where you saved your config file

GPU3 client with passkey means I need 10 wu's before bonus points kick in?
I am on unit #6 right now. It's been folding some 20 hours now.

Damn. Might have to mess with overclocking.
What should I mess with? Graphics clock, Memory clock, Processor clock, or some combination thereof?

Sorry Snowmen. I think my GPU folding box just died (X2 3800+ with a GT240). I came home and found it blue screened with the HD light on solid. Turned the power off and now the box won't boot at all. Posts and then just hangs with th HD light staying lit constantly. I'm currently testing the components individually, but its not looking good so far. Tried different memory, doesn't seem to be the problem. Taking out the HD now and putting it into a USB enclosure to see if that's the issue.

Got the parts for my new system yesterday from UPS, but I probably won't get around to setting that up until this weekend. So unless I can figure out what's wrong here, I'm down to a bunch of CPU folders doing ~2000 ppd total. This sucks.

Well, the good news is that it looks like the HD drive is dead. The bad news is that it looks like the HD is dead.
