Got my GT240 box back up and running now with an ancient 20gb laptop HD (only extra HD I had - it works!). But seeing how my PPD is about the same as Markfw900's PPMin, I don't think it was a big deal.

Good news! Your points could make the difference geecee!

I just got 1 9800GTX running on one of my Q6600 linux boxes. I have another 9800GTX which I'll add to my other Q6600 soon. Looks like the 9800GTX will produce about 6000 ppd. Not bad.

Wow you guys are really cranking them out!

My fleet of 3.06 Core 2 Duo's are no match for these i7's. My setups have been set them and forget them. I am running smp with the -smp -advmethods which I figure is about the best I'm gonna get with 2 cores.

Oh well, I'm giving all I got!

Crunch on!

I had two goals going into this season's race.
One was to beat last years personal production: 107,604 points 78 wu's.
The second was to hit a milestone of 2.5MM points.

With the addition of my GTS450 (and a PS3), I am going to have to revise my goal. Maybe double last years production is more realistic. Hitting 3MM total seems to be out of reach for the month.

You can run SMP sucessfully on dual-cores? Hmm. I might have a plan.

About how much ppd do you get from the ps3? Just bought one and I am considering adding it to race (if there isn't any downfalls to using it).

Just lost another two hours on my gpu because work server wasn't available. Looks i'll average 7200ppd. I have only completed 6 wus (4 to go), do I get bonus points on regular smp wus or does it only apply on bigadv wus?

It averages about 1,004 ppd. You get 251 points per unit (4 a day).

Do you have the bigadv flag active on your smp folder? You should get the bonus points. My amd X3 gets bonus points.

Thanks, any problems heat wise? I'm not running bigadv, isn't it only for 8 core cpus?

I have the 4th core unlocked and am running the smp client with a stock HSF in a not too well ventilated box. Do have one fan on the side blowing towards the cpu and one in the back pushing out. I think I run around 57*C during the day. Might get up to 60*C if the sun is shining on my box. I use it primarily as an HTPC for streaming to the PS3 via media server, but for December it is a folder.

The Snowmen take the lead with 143 220 points and 23 351 in ppd, and they produced more than 132K more points than the Yetis!

The difference looks big but it isn't too big. It is the difference of approx 2 bigadv. WUs ... so if two of those happen to come up for the Yetis the diff will be much smaller ...

I expect to wait more before I balance the teams for the final time. If one team has the upper hand for 5 days in a row I'll consider it.
I think it is time for the other part of the race: the assimilations, recruiting, borghing. Let that begin now!

Let us look a little closer at the numbers:

  • In 3 days the TeAm hasd produced more than 4 M points, i.e. 1.3 million points per day. :awe:
  • In three days the ppd has increased by 191K!, and is still rising.
  • The racers crunch 73.4% of the TeAm's output. ()
  • Among the top-20-producers are 14 racers.
  • Among the top-10 producers are 8 racers.
  • This can not be verfied, but: the fun in the world of DC has increased tremendously!

Thanks, but was talking about heat affecting the ps3 (slim). Right now my processors are running at 40*C and my gpu is at 62*C. I'm limited by my ram, bought ddr2-800 instead of ddr2-1066.

Thanks for the stats Petrus.

You got your GT240 to fold? Lucky. Mine just causes the system to hang when it gets too hot. I guess I'd need a better cooler. I have 2 GT240s that are sitting idle. All points are important! Each contribution counts!

It averages about 1,004 ppd. You get 251 points per unit (4 a day).

Do you have the bigadv flag active on your smp folder? You should get the bonus points. My amd X3 gets bonus points.

You only get bigADV projects if it detects SMP 8 or greater. Look at your projects. You might just be getting advmethods projects. Do you get Projects 2684, 2692, and 6900? Those are the only bigADV projects currently.

I can't wait for December 20th. You guys wait. I have 2 more 8C/16T computers to add once work closes for winter break! 2 more bigADV rigs! Good job guys! Lets keep it up! Maybe we'll be a few steps closer to TeamRage3D! Over 1 Million PPD!

This doesn't look right! I have 1,796,445 total points for TA and a 7-day average of 30,781.

Free-DC says I had PPD as follows:
Dec 4__25,853______Dec 3__31,768______Dec 2__35,023______Dec 1__32,255

Thanks for the regular updates though petrusbroder!

Edit: Oops my bad! Had the wrong resolution to read that and was reading QuietDad's stats!

Interesting, PCTC2 ...
My i7-920 gets bigadv-WUs (just now P6900, with an expected credit of 66 876 points); one of my i7-860 has a P2686 WU, with an expected credit of 65 380 points. All are crunching along well and will be finished well before deadline ...

As far as I can see, the following projects have a K-factor of 26.4 (bigadv): 2684, 2685, 2686, 2692 and 6900 (all these projects are about the Infuenza-virus).

Most of the data about the projects are here @ F@H.

Ooops. Sorry about that.
No issues on the PS3 Slim. I keep mine standing on the side so there is no heat build up under it.
I keep opposite side of the drive on the ground (so the BR drive edge is in the air).

Looks like we have 26 people in the race (not counting TA_Andy who has yet to check in) with a total of 214 clients running. Anywhere from 1 to 23 clients each. (so far) That's pretty cool.

And I'll bet there will be a few more logs on the fire before it is over....... :sneaky:

Is there any advantage, point-wise, to running -advmethods with the GPU3 client? After reading the thread about WUs that are slow and make your GPU overheat, I didn't dare try that flag. I get a steady stream of 6800 WUs, with 11470 PPD for my GTX460 1GB OC to 820/1640.

OK, my 3rd I7 box is unstable at STOCK speed (and memory running under rated speed). I have been having problems with this box for months. So my PPD will not be much over 200k.

I just ordered 6 2 gig ripjaws memory, and one more new motherboard. Hopefully one or the other will solve my problem. The PSU is a Corsair AX1200, and the cpu is a brand new I7 950, so its either memory or motherboard !

Maybe by the end of the race I will have a stable box.

I tried updating the bios . and now the OS is giving me an error I have never seen, so I have to reinstall. Now I have 50k ppd missing until further notice.

I am somewhat surprised: during the past 3 days my PPD as reported by HFM.NET has increased from approx 98K to 151K! And this only due to the bonus-WUs I have obtained ... lets see if this helps in the race ... probably not today, but tomorrow and the day after ...

It is interesting to see the daíly production sink for 2 - 3 days, and then there will be huge increase, then a decrease for a few days, then a increase ...

I think that a one month race is very good from the averages point of view: if the race was one or two weeks the racers which do F@H only for the race won't get these WUs while the "oldtimers" have them from the start.

What would be the optimal setting for SMP on a 6 core?

Currently I have it set to -smp only should I be looking at changing it? I see some using 8 after, is that for the number of cores? would I get large unit with that? That's if my cpu can return the unit in time...

Thanks

What you have is how I set up my 1055T. You won't be able to run the bigadv as the client needs to see at least 8 cores, virtural or physical. Though I remember reading people hacking the client to get bigadv on 6 cores though I don't recommend it. We just don't if hack clients can adversely affect the data sent to Standford.
