I guess I better get some fire under it and get my folding rig back in commission. I took it offline a few weeks back for upgrades that never happened. Now I'm embarrassed to see that I'm the only 0 on the Yetis.

My linux machine lost the wireless connection sometime yesterday and just sat there trying to send a completed WU for almost a day (some 44 attempts) before I noticed it was offline. I just plugged the damn ethernet cable in to make sure this doesn't happen for December.
Oh, and my GTS450 doesn't show up until Wednesday and I won't be home to sign for it...hopefully they leave it at my doorstop. If not...ugh.

I'm in the same boat. The parts for my new $200 budget folding system I posted about earlier arrive on Weds also. Athlon II X3 445 (hoping I will get lucky and can unlock the 4th core), Gigabyte MB and GTS 450. Its not much compared to some of the setups the guys here have going, but compared to the ancient machines that I have been doing most of my folding on, it's like moving from the Stone Age to Star Trek. Probably won't get it up and running for the race until the weekend though.

While I personally like the snowmen/yetis theme, instead of offering Team 1 v. Team 2, why not go with a more Seussian Thing 1 v. Thing 2.

Half my network lost connection yesterday and wouldn't come back. I have the choice of power-line networking, a 50ft ethernet cable routed in an ugly way, or a wireless bridge for my desk. I chose the wireless bridge and it's been good for months, but yesterday it just gave up. I started getting pings of 2+ seconds! WITHIN my network! So I restarted the two N access points... and then they wouldn't see each other for a while until one of them finally booted enough to be like "Hey. I recognize that signal and MAC address. I'll connect to it" and then I got my normal connection back. It's still slow, but it's wireless. There's interference from something so i get barely 6MB/s. Maybe I'll try powerline next time.

It may be that I'll move a racer with a ppd of 20K to the Yetis ...
Alternatively: we could try to recruit some more ... ;9

Geez! I'm glad I set things up last night. I forgot to adjust power settings and so after 30 minutes my machine went to sleep...talk about a rookie mistake! Don't worry Yetis, I'll get it together at some point.

I didn't realize Linux SMP2 -bigADV was broken in the Gromacs core... now I'm going to have to run it under Wine... shoot. So much for the beginning of the race.

I did get some new hardware. But the blip in points was a –bigadv (6900) completed. I’m not going to average that. I have discovered that this rig will do some –bigadv units but not others. For instance, I can do one of the 6900s but the 2864 won’t complete in time.

It is a core I7 860 2.8MHz and I have it running at 2.99 but I’m not a knowledgeable OC'er.

Yes, definitely need some more MHz to run the 2684. Normally a little vcore and vtt increase will work.

Well, didn't your average used to be 75-80k ppd ? and now its really like 100k ?

The race starts at 18:00 UTC, i.e. in 6 hours and 59 minutes.
Then we are racing!
OTOH: the production of more than 1 million points is awesome!

Actually I had 14 clients producing 64-65,000 ppd, and now I have 17 clients producing ?????. I'm plowing new ground here so I'm just guessing I'll land in the 90-95,000 range. I would like to break 100,000 ppd but that may be optimistic.

I've ordered FIOS, so it should be getting here on the 7th. Hopefully I won't have too much internet downtime.

alright......... I was fiddle f'ing with my overclocking and messed up enough to cause the smp client to drop that 2864 WU and this time I got a 6900............Which I can do with current settings............

I must be the worlds worst OCer.

Which brings me to a question. I thought Ctrl C stopped the smp client gracefully, but apparently not. Does anyone know how to stop the SMP client gracefully?

Interesting...Stanford actually recommend using ctrl+c as opposed to the "x". I'm not sure how else to end it gracefully.
