Assimilator1, too.

If Mark doesn't check in soon, I might abbreviate his username in a way he doesn't like.
Hey, I was the first to mention the holiday race, the first to join, and I asked for several people to be on my team.

I think my 150k ppd average says all I need to.

The other Mark. His last post was at the beginning of November.

Less than 3 days to take-off.

All getting ready?

I still have so much to do.

I need to the update the clients for:

Dual E5520 Workstation (Does the -smp flag go to 16?)
Core i7 920 w/ HD 5870 (Windows SMP2 + GPU2)
Core i7 860 w/ GT240 (Windows SMP2 + GPU2)
Core i7 860 w/ dual GTX 260's (Windows SMP2 + GPU2)
Core2Quad Q9400 w/ 8800GTS (G92) (Linux SMP2 w/ GPU2 under Wine)
Core2Quad Q6600 w/ 8800GT (Windows SMP2 + GPU2)
Core2Duo E6400 w/ GT240 (Windows + GPU2... really slowly)
Celeron E3300 w/ HD 5670 (Windows + GPU2... also really slowly)
2x iMac 27" w/ Core i5 750.
Maybe... just maybe... 2x Mac Pro's with X5560s
And a Mac Mini running a Mac OSX client.

So many clients to set up with a PassKey and a new client and everything! 2 days?!?!?! OH NO! I should've done this on Friday...since most of them aren't stable probably.

I fold under my email address. It is jtmilleratwoh.rr.com replace the "at" with "@".

I was at frys earlier I wanted the 1090T 6 core black edition. Of course they were out of them. They had a 1075 and I couldn't remember what that one was since I was looking for the 1090. So I asked if the 1075 was a black edition and he said yes. So I bit to get the cruncher online. I go to check out and recieve my processor and it is not a black edition. Oh well I bought it anyway. I want my 6 core going the whole month.

I just started my linux machine with -bigadv -smp 16. I'm happy.

UPDATE 1: 3 Machines done. 1 in progress. My Linux machine does 1% of the large 6701 WUs every 7 minutes! Other WUs ever 2.5 minutes.

UPDATE 2: My 3 Core i7 machines, my E5520 machine, and my 2 iMacs are up and crunching. I'm expecting it to get hot in here...

Well, got my second F@H rig fired up. Two GTX460 1GB cards, at 800/1600/900, and a Q6600 @ 3.6.

The new SMP client is nice, thank goodness that you don't have to have a windows user password anymore.

The GPU3 systray client setup is kind of wierd. It doesn't create a desktop shortcut, and the shortcut it does create in the Start menu, doesn't allow you to change the target of the shortcut. It's greyed out, almost like it's malformed. So I had to create my own shortcuts rather than copy and modify that one. I'm getting better at setting up the multi-gpu, it was kind of easy. I forgot to add "-advmethods" to the GPU clients though. From what I'm hearing about some of the new GPU3 WUs, lagging the OS GUI and everything, perhaps I don't want to add that flag.

26000 PPD for the second folding rig, and 8000 PPD for my primary folding rig, that is only running on half of its cylinders.

Here are the stats as of today.

  • You should check if they are correct (e.g. that I have not mixed up with other with a similar name).
  • I will check the stats at race's start and then probably move around one or two people to match the teams.

One interesting observation: in the past 4 days i have produced more points than during the whole race last year ... and the year before that ... GPUs really contribute!

My ppd will be dropping over the next few days because I'm out of town until the 1st and it seems my smp has stopped running, but ppd will definitely be going up after that.

I think you'll put up a good fight this year! This is good for the race and the TeAm. We always need a push so we don't lose our standing! Plus, last year doesn't really count for you, eh?

I don't think I raced 2 years ago, but I'm definitely to a better start than last year. More GPUs and CPUs all around. Let's get this race going!... (in 2 days.)

UPDATE: I just checked my stats! If I'm not careful, You'll pass me Peter!

BTW: I have two ATI 58xx-series GPUs. Which client is best for those? GPU2? Please advise how to install the cleint; I have tried the GPU2-client but I get the message that no GPU is present at first start up. Should I use the Console or the Sys-tray client?

Although the ATI-GPUs are not as good as the NVIDIA GPUs they should produce a few 1000 ppd and in a race ...

Stanford recommends you stick with the GPU2 client. Apparently there's some issues with GPU3 with Radeons as it's design for Fermi cards.

You need to run a -forcegpu ati_r700 flag for GPU2 to work on 5000 series Radeons. For GPU3, the -forcegpu ati_r800 flag is used.

Depends on what CPU client you have running on the machine with your ATI cards, but for SMP it is usually not worth the points hit because of the bonus points.

GPU3 right now is nVIDIA only. For GPU2, you're going to need to add '-forcegpu ati_r700' for it to recognize your 58XX card. Even when running '-configonly' it requires the forcegpu option.

Here's a link for setting environmental variables on the ATI cards to balance/maximize SMP/GPU performance. I don't have any experience with ATI cards myself but others have found these useful.
