I will be RMA'ing this memory back to TechOnWeb (unless someone wants it for $12, shipped).

Edit: The VIA chipset board is the ECS P4M800PRO-M(V2.0) with the
bios version: 07/05/25. There's a later bios version (070830), but that version
renders OSX unbootable, for some reason.

It's probably because it's high density memory. It's not really due to a chipset brand issue. More likely a chipset newness issue.

That's a bastard board...DDR/DDR2. Garbage in, garbage out.

According to the USPS, they received my rebate submission over a week ago. However, it still hasn't shown up on the HP rebate tracker. Is this normal or should I contact HP?

I wouldn't worry about it just yet. Many rebates are received weeks before they are processed. I'm not sure how fast this one is showing up although it seems that most are getting their rebates back within 4 to 6 weeks of mailing the rebate in.

Woot, just got mine today! I mailed mine about the same time as Univac, and it never showed up on the status page. Nonetheless, this deal rocked.

Do you have the number for the rebate division of HP or rebate house? I purchased 5 of these sticks from TechOnWeb about two months ago and sent in the rebate and haven't seen a trace of it yet. Thanks.

Where is this HP rebate tracker? I seem to have lost my rebate and need to confirm that they recieved it. Thanks.

No problem. Note that these HP modules are single-sided and will not work with a few el cheapo boards. I've seen a few low-end POS ECS boards that will only recognize 512MB per stick.

Oh wait, I also have a POS ECS 939 KN1 board. Hmmm...per the Corsair rep...I'm slandering ECS.

CostCentral has these for $7.50 (after rebate) with FREE shipping at this very moment ...

Quick question: I can buy 4 1GB sticks on the same receipt and get $80 rebate, right? ... or do I need to make 4 purchases with 1 stick in each?

One receipt/one stamp...up to five sticks for a maximum of $100.

OP, thanks for a really sweet deal! Received 2 sticks of D9HNL (like most people here) in 2 days from CostCentral. I've got a couple of questions:
1) the boxes have two labels -- one on the front, and another one on the (narrow) side. There are two barcodes with numbers (in the conventional UPC format) -- is this what I should mail in for rebate (or a copy of)? Someone in this thread recommended mailing "a label from the side of the box", but I don't think it's right.
2) Is there a way to put heat spreader on these sticks (given these are single sided) and is there any real benefit from doing so?

The barcode is the entire label on the front as shown on the rebate form, not the side sticker.

You could put a heat spreader on but to get good tension you might need to put some thick double-sided tape on the back, or just use frag tape or thermally conductive epoxy to attach only half of a heat spreader. I don't recall anyone putting the voltage high enough that it was needed but if nobody does it how will anyone know? You should be ok below 2.0V without one, borderline at 2.0V with good ambient temp & airflow, and consider using at more than 2.0V.

Looking at the spec sheet they are spec'd for stock speed at 1.8+-0.1V, absolute max of 2.3V (I wouldn't go this high) and 85C max chip case temp (might need be cooler for good o'c).

Don't bother with heat spreaders. My own tests back up the following comments.

"At first glance, there is only one word to describe the overclocking results: Surprising.
The first thing that stands out, voltage does not help at all. "

Thats a rediculous statement. Maybe the board is bad. I ran two sticks on this board without a hitch.

You don't need heat spreaders on these.
I had mine up to DDR2-800 at stock voltage & ran Memtest overnight. I touched them as soon as I stopped Memtest & these things weren't even warm!
