Is taking 6 AP classes too much in your senior year? I didn't do well in my junior year so I want to make it up by taking 6 AP's and try my best in them. Is 6 AP too much? Anyone taken that many AP courses in one year? Thanks for the feedback.

If you can't do well your Junior year what makes you think you can take on 3-5x as much work the next? You can try but I guarantee you will a) have a nervous breakdown, b) fail all but one or two classes, c) not have a life, or d) do well in classes but fail miserably on the AP exams.

Forget it. Not only is 6 insane, it's unnecessary. I don't think my school district even allows students to take more than 4-5 AP classes in one year.

It all depends on your school I suppose. I breezed through 3 AP's my Junior year and got straight A's my Senior year taking 5 AP's, but the students at my school were mostly morons and some of the teachers were a joke. I think if you went to a really compeditive high school with demanding teachers then 5-6 AP's would definetely be a bit much.

my friend did it, it's not hard if you're willing to work at it

in order to get an A + pass the ap tests expect to spend 3-4 hours a day studying unless you're really talented

the way i see it, is you're talented, but you're lazy, if that's the case then don't bother

6 will be tough but I think it is doable. I took 5 my senior year and I was fine. You WILL have to do lots of work though if you want to get good grades in those classes.

It can be done. Do I think it can be done by someone who slacked for an entire year and is trying to overcompensate by doubling his workload? No.

I took six AP classes my senior year, but only took three of the tests. Six AP CLASSES doesn't have to be as harsh as if you studied and took all those tests.

I think it's better to push yourself, the higher you push the further you can go, and the more you can discover about yourself... sorry to sound like a motivational poster , but that's how I feel about it.

Anyway, good luck.

6 is like overkill. This guy at my HS took 6 AP classes, but he's smart and works hard - I'm sure you're smart but I'm questioning your work ethics. I also had a crappy junior year, and going into my senior year, I thought I would work hard to make up for it. I really didn't think senioritis was going to affect me, but holy hell, I've never done so bad in my life. I dropped one whole GPA point...and I only took 2 AP classes. Enjoy your senior year; and you're going to get senioritis, maybe not as bad as me, but you will. Guaranteed.

What are those classes you're going to take?

You screwed up your junior year so you think taking harder classes will make you do better? I took 4 AP classes this year (junior) and I wouldn't consider taking any more than that but if you really want to do it, go for it. I don't think it's impossible if you're really willing to work. I've taken statistics and biology out of the ones on your list so if you have any questions about those classes, feel free to ask.

What do you mean by that?
Probably that she was really busy and didn't have time for a social life. That would be my guess at least...

What do you mean by that?

Meaning she ceased to have any kind of meaningful social life. Kiss all of your fun time goodbye, as you'll be spending it assholes and elbows in your books. If you're really dedicated and serious, that is.

ap bio = hell
just thought you should know take any alternative, ANY ALTERNATIVE TO AP BIO I REPEAT ANY ALTERNATIVE....
not really a hard class, just an insane amount of work (at my school at least), to there you would much rather be in AP CHEM or AP Physics...

I thought chemistry was harder than biology but it might just have been the teacher. I did do better on the chem test than the biology test though.

If you did poorly in Pre-Calc, why would you take AP Calculus and Statistics??

I've never taken anything but honors or AP classes, AP if available, and never eneded a year with more than one B. This past year, senior year, I took 6 AP courses; Econ, Gov, Calc II, English, Spanish, Physics. I got straight A's with say.. 2 hours a week doing work outside of school(including writing papers). Yes, yes, tell me I'm bragging or whatever but I'm just saying it's possible. But each student has to know what his / her capabilities are, we can't really judge that.. if you think you can handle it, then go for it.. if you think you might have a little trouble.. Don't.

Because I have no other classes to take.

I took 6 senior, 3 junior. I had no trouble handling them (and made mostly 5s on the exams, with the exception of two 4s and a 3--and made all high As in the courses), and as long as you do your work, I doubt it will be too difficult.

Again, it's really relative to what school you attend and how hard it is.
