I have the Apacer media reader in my system. I'm using windows XP pro and mb is Asus P4PE. It works great. If you follow the include instructions that came with the 6-in-1 you should be good to go. Check your mb manual too just to be safe. I used to have a single reader for my Memory stick and one for my Compact Flash. And now when I place the memory stick in my 6-in-1 they just all show up as drives. All you have to do is name each drive and it's works like a charm. It's very fast to. Beats connecting Cannon Digital camer via USB 1.1 to my PC. Also frees up my USB port so I can connect my scanner and Palm cradle. I wish they made all Digital cameras 2.0USB!

got mine today. hook up was easy. loving it. however I thought USB 2.0 would be faster than this (yes, noticeably faster than 1.1, just not as fast as I was hoping)

Is there such thing as an internal CF reader only? I don't need all the other connections.

This one at SVC is the OEM version of the Apacer and is identical in every regards except the Apacer logo on the faceplate.

I believe Newegg has it as well, you can check some listings and prices as well as opinions
in this thread from Peripherals.

Its definitely a great buy for those of you with an extra 3.5'' and multiple flash media types. Its saved me a lot of clutter on my desk in terms of different devices and USB cables running around. It takes both internal mobo headers, but gives one back which is nice and the black faceplate and *bright* leds are definitely nice looking. You may however, want to swap around the red and the yellow LEDs, as the red is always on and is a bit bright IMO in default configuration.

Thanks for bumping this thread. I just bought their OEM one (link is on the right hand of the Apacer one) because it is identical but a dollar cheaper.

Here is pretty much the same drive from directron for about $26 + $6.27 for shipping, however I wasn't charged tax (I'm in cali).

I have a USB 1.1 reader and the above reader. I tested a 117MB file using both drives and a 128MB smart media card. It took the USB1.1 reader about 3 minutes to copy the file from the card to the hard drive, it only took 35 seconds to do the same task with the USB 2.0 device.

I hope this answers some questions regarding whether or not the flash media is also USB 2.0.

I had this drive for some time, and at first, it was flawless. Now it only works from cold start (when I actually flip the switch on the PS in the back). If I don't, Windows 2000 does not recognize it. It sees a *USB device*, but I get no drive icons, and scanning for hardware does not help. Funny, because I'm pretty sure it worked for a while before. I'm thinking my unit became defective somehow, may have to RMA the bloody thing. I, too had very little luck with INTERNAL readers, this is my second one (I tried a USB 1.1 unit first), and I just can't get one to work right for me!

ressurected thread? My internal Apacer is chugging away just fine. Have a SM digital camera and used CF for storage and thought that I dont need those extra coonections, jumped on e335 deal, and now I am using the SD connection too, so they might come handy.

OK. I'm in. Jut ordered from SVC. One thing though: Could not find that model on my own. Had to use your link or search on the model number. Wonder if it is so swell (USB 2.0 reads everthing front USB port no gross cables out the back of the case) why does SVC not post it? only ones on their "other" page are the usb1.1 model and the one with the ugly through the back of the case USB cables.

Anyone know if the Dell 4550 motherboard has the headers I would need to connect one of these. I imagine it would considering the system has front USB ports, but with Dell, I'm never sure since they get almost all their stuff made precise for their needs.

was at frys yesterday - they have drives like these. i happened to see one by ATECH that is on toms hardware (link). it's internal AND external, but if you mount it internally i don't think there's an option to eject the reader out - they should release a version where you can remove it from a 3.5 bay.

Dang it I coudl have saved a few $$$$ going with newegg. Looks like the reatail box too, I got the whitebox OEM from SVC

SVC buying experience was flawless: Shipped the same day, showed up in my mailbox 2 days after ordering. I guess the extra $10 was worth not putting up with the FedEX hassle (I really wish newegg would ship small stuff like this USMAIL, they sure would get more of my business).

The Dell 4550 does not have the USB header connections that are needed to connect this thing. I bought 2 of them and was hoping to put one in my New Dell last night but suprise suprise the Dell Mobo doesn't support it.

my guess is that about 80% of them were due to user error.
