This is GREAT if you want a quieter and better CPU fan. Just purchase a quieter 80mm fan to replace the 60mm fan.

Thanks for the heads up, sounds like a good deal if you are ordering in quantity, but if you're just a single user looking for one or two you may be better off going with SVCompucycle. they are asking a buck more, but will probably charge at least that much less in shipping.

I've ordered from SVC before and had no probs. Excellent prices on fans/heatsinks/cables and such.
I did order this particular fan adapter a while ago for using on a celeron heatsink (Akasa was the brand on the adapter).
It did a very poor job of cooling even with a relatively powerful 80mm fan. You won't get any noise reduction or better cooling vs. a decent 60mm. Much of the air is not forced through the heatsink, so you get more turbulence/noise with less cooling.
Also, it takes up a good deal of space - extending the effective height of your fan/heatsink combo by 1 1/2" or so, so make sure you have room in your case!
(Not a thread crap -- I like SVC very much in general. The last thing I bought from them was Akasa noise dampening material for about 1/2 what other sites are charging - around $11. I'm very happy w. that).
