Which do you guys think is the best option? Sharp seems to be coming to the top when i search. Im more concerned with picture quality than price, but can be swayed by price.
Are you dead set on LED tech?
Well I am a big fan of Panasonic Plasmas. Still consider them to be the superior tech on the market when considering price. Eventually the OLEDS will bring a halt to plasma tv production but not until the price comes down considerably.
If you want the best Panny has to offer today in 60" then you want the ZT60. The next step down would be the VT60 while the lowest I would go would be the ST60.
LED are the best way to do business locally globally
as LED is called light emmiting diode its picture quality is good and its sound is fabulous.
it is little bit costly than LCD but the quality is better than LCD.
and you can get a look off home theater effect.
What kind of room is this going to be in?
Completely light controlled?
Partially light controlled?
Bright?
If it's a bright room, then LED lit LCD might make sense.
If it's partially light controlled, then I'd look at Plasma.
If it's a fully light controlled room, then projection will get you the most bang for the buck.
At the same rate - if it's fully light-controlled, a Plasma will provide the best possible picture. No ifs ands or buts.
Well, if money is no object, than the latest OLED displays should beat Plasmas.
It takes a fair bit of money for projectors to really come close to overall contrast and black levels. Well, they won't ever come close, but if light-control is good, reasonably close is achievable.
A quality projector is still my goal for a personal theater, and my new plasma would be the everyday viewer while the projector would provide a beast of a screen for movies and games.
I mentioned projector since getting 4 plasmas will leave you with a crappy bezel in the middle of the picture, and I don't think plasmas go above like 80 inches or so ...
if you want a 100 or 120 inch picture ... projection is really the only option .. (at least at reasonable price points. Quality is not as good as plasma, I will readily admit.)
For smaller sizes, Plasma is best...
Now, RT projection may actually beat the black levels and contrast of Plasma. (however not practical for most, we'll get into that later)
Multiple CRT projectors with Blending will give better contast/black level still.
CRT uses tons of power makes lots of heat, and likely the fans will be audible/noisy... multiple CRT multiplies the eproblem ... Also the CRT projectors take up a lot of space, often only practical in rooms with 9+ foot ceilings...
Setup like this takes tons of money and setup, but, is very very very difficult to beat

OMG - For whatever reason, I was completely unaware anything CRT-related was even still around! I completely forgot about the three-lens projectors!
Nothing, absolutely nothing, beats the total contrast that CRT can achieve. There have been some technologies (that have come and gone) that would have rivaled CRT, but not even Plasma can achieve what CRT can. I think Plasma may have CRT beat on brightness, if so, barely... and of course LCD-tech destroys CRT for brightness.
But absolute black (0nit, perfectly 0) has only ever been achieved by CRT, iirc. OLED might have have an answer to that and be able to finally challenge CRT on all fronts, but thus far, everything has been scratching to be the runner-up.
That's the only reason I miss CRT TVs. SED TV's were supposed to be the flat-panel modern-day approach to CRT technology, but.... that went nowhere, sadly.
Now you've got me drooling and dreaming about the day I'll be able to have a dedicated theater room for a CRT projector. :awe:
