I've got two orders pending -- one for 3/28 and one for 3/31. I'm probably going to cancel both if they don't get moved up by middle of next week.
I have a very long story, but to make it short... Dell lied and told me my Credit Card was declined after my machine sat in production for 2 weeks. I ordered it on Feb 28th and It was to ship on March 13th (Thursday). Well I started calling earlier in the week cause It never went into production. I was told serveral times that It was because they were out of some "Processor" part and It would be built ASAP when they got the parts.
Well I called back Thursday morning and the guy told me the same thing, except this time he said he was going to find out my new ship date and call me back. Well he never did and so i called back at lunch time (about 4 hours later). This time the guy on the other side of the phone says "Oh your CC was declined and your order never went into production". He then proceeded to CANCEL my order, saying he could only rerun my CC with a whole new order. I was pissed and told him I was calling AMEX and I would call him right back.
I called Amex and they said they didn't know what the problem was, and that it shouldn't have been declined (I have an Amex Platinum, it has no limit, so as long as i'm not late on bills, i can purchase anything on it). Well He said he would call Dell and find out what the problem was and replace my order. So he 3 way the call to Dell and the guy said the same thing, that Amex declined my card and that It was Never in production. I told him that was BS that My order sat in the que for TWO weeks "in production" but never moved. He said it wasn't "possible" that if i was declined, that the order cannot enter production. He said he would go review my account and get back to me.
While on Hold the Amex guy said "hey wait, on Feb 28th we approved an order for Dell for $XXX.XX" I was like "YEAH NO KIDDING!!! Dell is trying to pull something". Well the Dell guy comes back on and sais "hey you were right, there was some sort of "gitch" with your order and it "was declined" but went into production. The amex guy told him it was BS that he showed an approval and hold of funds for Dell on Feb 28th. The guy said there was nothing he could do about it but restart my order.
Well I said ok, go rerun my order, and AMEX is ON THE PHONE so you can get immediate approval and Amex was recording the whole conversation He said ok, ran the card, approved. The i said, well now that you've changed my order date, I want to know how to get my $100 MIR. He was like "there is no way you can get the MIR, cause It's not Dells fault that Amex declined your card" ARGH, total morons at Dell. Me and the Amex guy explained to him that I was told on Feb28th that It was approved and It went into production. HE had NO RIGHT to cancel my order and just not rerun my card. He basically said too bad. I told him to go get a manager.
After about 4-5 minutes of waiting (the whole time me and the Amex guy were talking about computers, great guys at Amex) and the Dell guy came back on the phone. He said "I spoke with my manager and there is no way you can still get the $100 MIR" I was like WTF YOU JERKS!!! He then went on and said that he would note on my invoice that I was ineligible for the $100 MIR, but that for the trouble he would take $100 off the original price and that would make us even. Actually in the Long run of things It made my computer $12 cheaper for Tax reasons since I live in TN!! I then said "well my computer was supposed to ship today, but because of your fault now I have to wait till April 1st??" I told him to expedite my order and get it to me Quickly. He said he really couldn't do much about it but that he would give me Free Overnight shipping...
In otherwords, I really believe that Dell was trying to cancel my order because I'm paying $440.xx for a 2.4GHZ w/ a 36GB SCSI U320 HD w/ a Free 73GB SCSI U320 HD. I think they oversold what they have and they are out of parts and having to get them back in. They lost big money on this deal, but I'm GOING TO GET THIS COMPUTER. They wont stop me
