I know you got the A8-3870K, but even with some overclocking, I can't imagine it being all that much better. Seriously, the gap is so wide that OCing won't get you Intel-level performance. (I am a bit of an AMD fanboy, and it sucks having to say something like that. T_T)

Undoubtedly a better performer, but also $50 more expensive. Also, it's best combo discount on a mobo is $18, compared to the $40 discount received for the 3780K + UD4H. If you split the discount then the 3780K was conceivably $60 cheaper since the aforementioned motherboard was significantly out of my budget. Even with the cheapest H61 motherboard ($50-ish) it would have been more expensive and would just be another part to upgrade, furthering expenses.

I think that you should have updated the thread before buying that stuff. You would have gotten a machine with better all-around performance if you had gotten a $60 FM1 mobo, $85 Athlon II X4 631, and $70 6670.

So you would redistribute the $215 I spent on the CPU+mobo on those items to squeeze in a dedicated GPU? My only question is if that system would have a higher ceiling than the one I purchase after I use the rebate money on a 6670. Would you have made any other changes?

The rest looks OK. You won't notice a difference between a 2.6 GHz and 2.9 GHz quad core, but you will notice a difference between the Llano IGP and a 6670.
