The (new/used) modifier was intended to address your "$120k LOL" comment. If it's $120k new, I'll be looking at a used model.

I agree that the Porsche Panamera and Maserati Qport are the most stylish of the group. However, the Panamera's back seat is a little awkward and the Italian engineering of the Maserati smells like money.

And a weekend car is just that, a cheap and easily-replaceable vehicle that still manages to draw attention at Sunday brunch. A restored Ford Bronco or FJ is on the list.

Hah, most people go the other way.

Cheap daily driver + expensive nice weekend car.

You know, the way that actually makes sense as opposed to putting 100K miles on your new Porsche or Maserati.

You are probably going to think I am crazy fickle, but I don't want to buy an Audi without the LED eyebrow. Same with the new Porsche LED running lights on the front facade. It just screams 'last-gen' when it is absent. And unfortunately, it doesn't look like there is going to be a next-gen RS4 according to Jalopnik.

The B8 A4/S4 looks like shit anyway. Audi makes two good looking sedans, the 6 and 8. They make much nicer looking Coupes and Roadsters. The 5 being arguably the best looking Coupe in the world, under the $100K barrier.

And that pretty much sums up what you know about cars. The exit to The Garage is that way.

<-----

Only so much you can do with a Corolla engine in it, even if you try to lose the weight.

You'd have a lot of fun driving with a 200lb buddy too. By a LOT I mean a lot slower.

So how much do you know about cars? Let's measure. D:

Which explains why the Elise was the fastest car at the SCCA event I went to the other weekend.

Unless you're referring to drag racing - but of course you wouldn't, because:

As I said in the OP, she "wants" a burnt orange Lotus Elise. Nothing has been purchased.

Don't mind us, we're just discussing Yokohama tires.

I've had my eyes set on the Lotus Evora, even though it uses the same engine as my Camry. Oh well.

I don't consider a Porsche or Maserati nice enough to shelve/garage. As for all the cars mentioned, I want plush travel to and from work, lunches, dinners, client meetings, etc. For the weekends, I wouldn't mind driving to the local brunch spot in a restored Ford Bronco sans air conditioning. I wouldn't mind driving to the local bar in a Elise with stiff-as-hell suspension. I would mind driving those to work in 100F+ temperatures in my suit.

Now, if the car was a $300,000 exotic, I would definitely keep it garaged and drive it sparingly.

Fastest at what? Some random Autocrossing course that doesn't get over 60mph?

Let's see how it does at a ring that needs a bit of power:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C3%BCrburgring_lap_times

Oh look, A Chevy Cobalt is faster.

This all from the teen that doesn't understand how the basic mechanics of a drivetrain work.

Please explain how a car that does 0-60 in 4 seconds, and 100mph in 10 seconds is slow. Not to forget it can corner better than most cars on the market. The exige isn't meant to do 200mph, it's a light nimble vehicle that can hold its own on most tracks, and on the road not much will out run it on a curvy road.

To the OP question. I say BMW M3 sedan, those aren't very common, just as good as the coupe, and I think they look a bit better. Yeah, the s4/5 is a nice vehicle, but I've yet to see anyone say they offer a better driving experience than the m3.

Jaguar XFR: It may not be the most this or the best that, but I do say it's bite-the-back-of-your-hand beautiful.

From the cars on your list: CTS-V or a BMW 535

What I would get as a $60k DD - A fully loaded Volvo S80 T6, it will stay on the road longer, and cost less to maintain than just about anything else on that list.

But I wouldn't waste $60k on a DD, I'd save $30k of that and invest in a track car and some road course/auto-x/time attack races and actually learn how to handle a serious car. To each his own.

It's slow. Top speed at 150mph? Most Accords can go faster than that.

For what it is and what they cost they are slow. You are quoting an Exige S numbers, which cost about as much as a Nissan GT-R and can't touch it in most aspects.

The reason why they are reasonably quick (0-60, 0-100) is that it's extremely light, but the reason why it's really not nearly quick enough is because of its underpowered Engine.

Please learn the difference between Acceleration and Velocity. Fast is a measure of velocity. Quickness is a measure of time (and acceleration).

A car without sufficient power relying on its weight-savings for acceleration will be killed when two adults actually get to sit in one.

Not much will will out-run it on a curvy road? I'm sorry, but I'm willing to bet a Cobalt will out-run one any day.

Damn, I always forget about this car but its definitely what I would pick! Everytime I see one I want to own one.

Indeed. The new direction Jaguar is going with styling is definitely more Aston Martin-ish.. and that's never a bad thing.

Does help they hired the designer from Aston Martin.

Not the place to argue this, but you don't buy an exige to do top speed runs. More than likely gearing limited, hence its slower times on the ring.
