Not the place to argue this, but you don't buy an exige to do top speed runs. More than likely gearing limited, hence its slower times on the ring.

None of this had anything to do with what we were discussing, which were Yokohama tires. And you don't need Michelin 200mph rated tires on a Lotus, which was what I was saying.

Damn, I always forget about this car but its definitely what I would pick! Everytime I see one I want to own one.

Does help they hired the designer from Aston Martin.

I actually don't like it. It's like watering down the Aston Martin and not giving Jaguar a chance for a unique design.

Killing two birds with one stone in a bad way.

It's slowNot much will will out-run it on a curvy road? I'm sorry, but I'm willing to bet a Cobalt will out-run one any day.

The Elise and Turbo Exige are classified as "Super Stock" by the SCCA, with the dodge Viper, C5 'vette, and twin-turbo RX7, etc. A Cobalt SS (not the regular Cobalt) is classified as D-Stock along with cars like the Integra Type-R, 4 classes below the Elise. The regular cobalt is in H-Stock, along with the Prius.

Go ahead and argue all you want, the entire SCCA says you are not right.

Please learn the difference between Acceleration and Velocity. Fast is a measure of velocity. Quickness is a measure of time (and acceleration).

Funny thing is, you don't seem to care about the actual definitions of acceleration and velocity yourself.

The Cobalt SS TC is indeed fast, but it isn't a Cobalt. 260HP vs 155HP, right.

Well I have never heard of the SCCA until Jlee mentioned them, so I am SURE you are correct.

In other news, I pay more attention to track times.

From the cars on your list: CTS-V or a BMW 535

What I would get as a $60k DD - A fully loaded Volvo S80 T6, it will stay on the road longer, and cost less to maintain than just about anything else on that list.

But I wouldn't waste $60k on a DD, I'd save $30k of that and invest in a track car and some road course/auto-x/time attack races and actually learn how to handle a serious car. To each his own.

Thank you for honoring me with your first (or second) post on AnandTech.

As for racing, I am already committed to an expensive racing sport. See my signature.

As for the Volvo, no doubt the S40 and S80 will be refreshed to match the new S60 styling. I don't want to buy the last model year of a generation. It looks outdated as soon as the model model hits. Inter-generation tweaks are fine, obviously.

He's just on the 'nef' part of his daily ritual, as described in his signature. I don't want to know if the 'nef' and the 'fap' occur simultaneously.

No I can't do that during the work week. :sneaky:

Well they are both POS next to a Maserati.

Pretty sure either will have less days in shop than the Maserati. Actually, combined they will have less days in shop.

we are talking about the op's only car, not toy car.

That is true, but if we are talking about reliability, my Toyota is the best car in this list then.

I'm not at all impressed by Toyota "reliability". It's definitely not what it once was.
