No one said anyone cross-shops these retard. The Lotus is lackluster for its price, especially when it gets its ass handed to it by a Cobalt. It weighs next to nothing with a Corolla Engine in it. As exotic as it can get I'm sure.

I'm sure you think my Camry is fast too if you actually think a Lotus Elise is fast (and you did not drive the Exige S).

you are a complete dumbass. this thread is the icing on the tire thread.

anyone who talks about top speed as a determinant of what is fast in one thread, and calls drag racing retarded in the other is so humorous.

you talk about the cobalt ss/t smoking the elise, which it does, at the ring. the ring sad to say is not the 'ultimate test track' bmw makes it out to be. Its fairly open and ALL ABOUT HP. so the cobalt turbo which has WAY more TQ and HP destroys it. the elise is a completey different animal. I have no hate for the cobalt, I used to have a ION Redline. But they are apples to oranges. the elise is a finese car like a miata, where the cobalt is a hammer, like a SRT8 or shelby gt. then you keep bringing in the banana of accord and camry. ooooh.

if you tried to get those couches to 150 MPH you are insane. it doesnt matter anyways, neither are sporty at all, or handle worth a damn compared to the others

you should get banned from the garage soon before 200mph rated tires is the new inflate to sidewall

OP:

CTS-V would be my choice

or a previous gen M5. I looked at the new M5 last week and found it lacking in sex appeal compared to the old one visually

4.9 seconds? WOooooo, a whole 0.1 seconds under 5, and 1/2 second faster than a V6 family sedan. That's the cut off line for FAST LOTUS OH YAH and SLOW CAMRY YO... LOL!!! I think you can slap a charger on a Corolla and it would just as fast.
That means the GSX-1000R is faster than the 911 GT2 RS, because the former does 0-60 in 2.9s and the latter does it in 3.3s. Oh shit! Role reversal!

Blah blah blah blah blah blah

"OH by the way I pick the overweight ugly-ass CTS with a huge ass Corvette Engine stuck in it."

Well I'm sure the GSX is faster. 200mph is a fairly familiar number for bikes no?

120mph? I cruised at that speed coming back from NYC in my 2 hour trip. Just yawning with the foot on the pedal is enough to bring any modern car with decent power beyond 100mph.

For any modern cars, you won't feel a thing going 130+. The funny thing is that the Camry I drive is electronically limited to 162mph, and the Elise is limited to 150.

Well, at least the Evora is going to be faster.

Dude, just stop. Numbers on paper don't mean shit. I guarantee you if I pull up next to your Camry in an Elise, I'm going to eat you alive and leave you at the light arguing with yourself that it's only supposed to be .1 seconds faster. And that's just a stop light drag which is the last thing you get an Elise for.

A car destroys a bike around a ring? Seems impossible...

What are the times?

Cars have this nice dimension called "track" that bikes don't, it allows weight to transfer form one side to the other during cornering, their CG is much lower than a bike's which makes the tires more tolerant of high lateral and linear accelerations (turning, acceleration, and braking). Additionally a car's tires are positioned much further away from it's center of gravity, giving the tires are larger moment about the whole car allowing to turn faster. On top of all of this, a car's tire's contact patch is much bigger than the contact patch of a motorcycle, plus a car has two, or four, driven wheels, which means it can put it's power to the ground twice, or four times, as effectively.

A bike *may* be faster in a straight line than many cars, but I have built race cars using motorcycle engines, the best of which was capable of a 3.4s (or so) 0-60mph time with a 20mm intake restriction that capped it at about 65hp. So with about half of the power of a stock GSXR600 the car achieved nearly the same 0-60 time.

Enjoy your license for the short while you still have it.

162mph? Really? Link please. My MR2 runs out of gears at 155, and I'm having a hard time believing that your Camry will outrun me....but hey, maybe it's possible.

No way, your speedometer goes up to 160! And with your new non factory size tires that makes it like 165 no? *snicker*

the looks are subjective, I like them. Its not exactly overweight compared to its comparisons, which are other sport-sedans. MR TOP SPEED doesnt like a big ass corvette engine?? you are a riddle wrapped in an enigma!

cars having the whole 4 tires thing and a greater ablity to use aerodynamics aides them in cornering quite well compared to bikes(see jch13's post)

read this article as well
more in depth version here, one of sport riders best articles

cars will out do bikes on smaller circuits, but on large HP friendlier ones, like the ring, laguna seca, road america, the bikes will have the edge.

see my previous post reguarding elise vs cobalt ss/t at the ring.

you seem like a giant paper racer anyways.

It's American and it has evil push rods and leaf springs. Wait... leaf springs are the things they use for valve springs when you have push rods or something right? Anyway the aren't exotic, they are made out of steel and iron instead of moon dust, so they suck.

Lol, I seriously doubt you got much above 100mph. If you'd ever done any sort of time above 100mph you would realize what you just said was bullshit outside of an exotic capable of 200mph.

Also, your camry is not 'limited to 162', its limited to 142mph. It would also take a looong time to get there. It also hits 100mph in 15 seconds, and 60 in 6 seconds. 2 seconds slower to 60, and around 3 to 100mph. And while your camry pulls a very blah .81g on the skidpad, an elise easily pulls 1g.

Well they are both POS next to a Maserati.

Anything you'll ever own is a POS next to my Ford. If you ever afford something nicer than my Ford, it will still be much slower. Lose/Lose for you.

Go ahead and keep driving your Camry and dreaming of Maseratis and Veyrons while the rest of us enjoy actually driving cars in the real world.

PS My speedometer only goes to 160, I guess you have me beat in your Camry at 162

First relevant google turned up 162 from: http://www.lasplash.com/publish/cat_index_Vehicles/2007_Toyota_Camry_Review_Road_Test.php

But C&D has it listed as 145mph electronically limited. It's probably 162mph aerodynamically.

You have to be kidding me right? The CTS is a fat overweight PIG. It can't even break 6 seconds to 60 in a 300HP direct injected variant.

The fact that it's more like a compact sedan than a midsize really makes it oh so appealing. But you have driven one yes? Been inside one? Felt like a driving in a little fat Civic?

I don't think anyone is, it's just Mr. PoPo J Lee went fishing with his Yokohama remark. I happened to bite.

I have nothing against Yokohama, in fact, I will probably be buying Yokohama next. But they aren't cheaper than the Michelins for no good reason.

What the hell are you talking about? The Camry is my daily driver, if I wanted to blow everything on an M3 or god forbid when it comes out, an Evora, I very well could. I don't think I'm quite ready to put all my paltry savings into one sports car yet at my age.
