Wow, great job nV

I see why you are asking...

(Nothing on their driver lookup tool...)

yeah, I really want to upgrade from 32 bit vista but I'm afraid because I hear that you can only use microsoft signed drivers so my current hacked drivers are likely to be out of the question...

IIRC, nVidia does not publicly release mobile GPU drivers. If that's true, you must contact your laptop manufacturer for a Vista x64 driver.

Eh, you can disable driver signing.

Obviously not ideal, but sometimes you do what you gotta do.

RivaTuner disabled it for me in order to function in Vista 64.

I wonder how they can expect people to not want to use x64 on a laptop. Obviously not everyone will be able to get hacked drivers and remove driver signing etc.

Yeah, well we all know how nVidia is with drivers

Thankfully i haven't encountered any glaring issues thus far, but i imagine it's only a matter of time

Strange, that use to be what people used when talking down ATI...drivers. Now what do we see?

It's not really all that strange to me.

I never liked their lack of updates back when i had my 6800 GT, & then 7900 GTO.

They never seem to care about fixing issues either, which isn't anything new...i had trouble back on my 6800.

They do have a less bloated driver, & i've always had more success OCing nV cards, but updates & fixes on their driver have been an issue for years as far as i am concerned.

I never followed it that closely myself. I just use the latest driver for whatever card I happen to have and leave it at that. The one issue Nvidia cards gave me was in FinalFantasy XI. They have something in the driver that renders the scenery and "fog" differently. It's not actual Fog but the way the developers coded the draw distance. Things far off in the scenery are hidden from view with a fog effect, probeably because of the performance impact otherwise. To make a long story short Nvidia cards have trees and other objects randomly pop out of the fog to be visible and then will go hidden if you turn the camera to a certain angle. It's like they pop in and out of the picture. I've never seen this on ATI cards. The only reason I even noticed it was because I played on a P4 3.2 and 9800Pro for a long time, then got a 6800Ultra with my new AMD system. The "problem" was apparent right away.

It took them over half a year to fix the 64-bit CPU + DEP + UT2k4 BSOD issue.

I ended up having to stick w/ ancient drivers that didn't cause the BSODs...

Anyway...enough off topic, sorry OP.

As mentioned though, if you don't mind messing around, you can disable driver signing if you have to, RockGuitarDude.
