More updates:
I reformated an old HD, fresh install win98se. With only this 64M RAM, ran RAM test several times, no problem at all. So I thought maybe my new HD just crashed at wrong time. So I put my new HD (w/ dead 98 and good 2000) back, put all my old RAM (PC100 128 + PC100 64) back, left the new RAM there, then went to bed.

This morning, my PC won't even boot to win2000.

WhiteMouse-

What kind of motherboard?

I had trouble on a Via board, but (as of yet) no troubles on a BX board. I am wondering if it is chipset specific...

My MB is LX, running 66 FSB. With the same MB, same RAM(s), I got working AND not working Win 98/win2000. I don't know, maybe it does not like other PC100s.

From somewhere, and long time ago, I seemed read sth. like 2 64M sticks have problems talking to each other. But I cannot recall the details.

Anyway, selling this $2 RAM should be easy, right?

Couple quick questions for all of you.

1.) How many people have gotten the Infineon vs. Nanya?
2.) Have people who received the Infineon had any trouble with it?
(It sounds like most of the issues were with the Nanya brand)
3.) Most importantly, is the 50 off 50 deal still valid?

Thanks!

I received the Nanya chips (64 MB). It would not boot correctly on my Asus P3V4X when using the SPD setting. I reconfigured the memory in BIOS so that it would think that it is an 8ns DRAM. Now it works fine. This is not a CL2 PC133 chip. Generic RAM stinks, but for $2 I cannot complain too much. My other 64MB chip is from Micron. I will go back to using them.

My other computers are:
544 CPU Cray T3E 1200
512 CPU IBM SMP
512 CPU SGI Origin 3800

Like I said, I got Nanya. It would not boot into windows on my MSI 6309 Via 133A chipset with memory set to SPD. It does boot into Linux on a Abit BP6 BX chipset board.

Hmmm.... I was wondering if it was a Via chipset thing. But Lifeguard brings up a good point, perhaps it is an SPD thing. That is the SPD reports faster timings than the memory can do.

Hmmmm...

Got 2 of the 64mb sticks, one Infineon and one Nanya, both made in Denmark. Tested on an old Abit MB with K-6 266 CPU. The Infineon works fine, though have no clue what the speed or cas rate is. The strange thing is about the Nanya. When it is installed alone, the computer simply doesn't boot. But if I add in the Infineon stick, the computer boots fine and posts correcly the 128 mb ram. Tried my old 32 mb stick together with the Nanya, works too. Anyway, the Nanya seems to refuse to do the job alone. Anyone has idea? Thanks.

To those who got the Nanya (I'm one of them): what to do? Return it or request an exchange for an infineon or just swallow the 2 bucks (assume all of us will get the shipping and rebate back)? I talked to an Equalfooting CR and invited him to this forum. He said he would because they are very much concerned with what the suppliers actually sell through their website. Probably we should press Equalfooting for a solution. Comments?

I guess I got lucky and got the Infinion ram, which is very happily running at 133 with my Mushkin budget PC133 ram. 320 mb of ram!!! wuuuuuuuuuu!!! (Now my computer has more RAM than my first three computers had hard drive space. )

BTW, what's the fastest this RAM will go?

Hey got mine 64MB PC100. Mine works after putting it in, no fussing around. It is made in Denmark, and the company says 'Memory Card Technology', don't know if this is a company or what...

Weird, I got NCP memory made in Singapore. I haven't tried it, I'll let you all know.

Anyone else get NCP?

Has anyone been able to exchange their crap Nanya brand RAM? I got some of that crap and it only does 100MHz CL3 reliably.

Also, this deal is dead now.

Anyone call in and complain or anything? What did they say? Equalfooting or Lamart?

I was charged shipping on mine too, but called them last night and the super-nice CSR said a check will be sent to me for that charge.

Got my Dell machine yesterday. Popped in the 64 MBs I got from Equalfooting.com and they worked just fine with the RAM that's already in there.

Not sure of the speed I'm running them at, but prob non-OC 133 MHz.

I'm happy.

Celery 600 w/ 128 MB + Win ME + a bunch of other software for $321.34.
(Assuming my rebate comes in.) What a Hot Deal!

Well, I have to eat some crow.

My Danish ram is working fine at CAS2/133, now that all the connections are tight and my BIOS is set properly.

No complaints after all.
