critical limit is 85 for barton. So is 65 full load no AC too much? Will it signifcantly reduce CPY life. should last a year. I have vantec aeroflow2 running and 2 more case fans. Sys temps~ 50. Come from a hot place. Room temps = 45. Can turn AC load= 56. Idle full ac <36. On average how long does it take normal thermal paste to reach optimum capacity. Will I see significant improvement with AS5?

With those voltages you should be fine. You're barely above stock voltage. The high temps are not a good thing though. They will reduce the life of your components and will make things like your videocard more difficult to overclock.

I think if its stable that's really the only criterion to judge. I've seen computers that crashed due to overheating around the mid 60s, and some that were just fine. It it works don't fix it, basically.

at 2.2 GHZ, P95 crashed after 30 mins. Running at 2130MHZ. Running for 30mins about. Letsee...then I can put it back on 2.2GHZ and try again. Let the thermal paste settle a bit

The hotter your CPU runs, the hotter your case will be. The hotter your case is, the hotter your videocard will be.

Heat is a very bad thing for computers. The less the better. You can say "who cares" all that you want, but it doesn't change the fact that the heat is bad for your machine.

I usually consider 65 to be too much. Right now my new mobile athlon is running at 62 at full load but this is with an older case and I'm running at 210FSB and 2.4Ghz. With just the side of the case open and nothing even blowing on it the temp drops to 54 so you can see my problem is the case. I'm going to mod it later today and add two fans onto the side of the case which should fix the temps. But anyways yeah if it's 65 on load that's probably as much as you ever want to see. You should try to get it lowered to below 60.

If you lower those temps your chances of overclocking your CPU will be better. There IS a difference in maximum CPU overclocked speeds between 65C and something lower like 45C.

Also, are you reporting the CPU socket temp or diode temp? The diode temp is always higher by a few degrees to as much as 10C. Even that's not an accurate representation of how hot different sections of the actual core is

is the temp that comes under the socket. Under the processor. Bw the proc and socket. My idle temps are wayyyy lower. Like 35. load 60 with AC. Why such a huge difference? And with the stock HSF it was 3-4 degrees lower? WTF? Should I put AS5?

I am running my 2500+ (which I bought on 4/8/03) at 207x11 (1.775v) I idle at 42C...I do use AS5 along with a Thermalright SP-97 with a Panaflo 92mm fan @ 2900RPM...what HSF do you use? I can probably crank this to like between 215-220 easily but I am happy with what I am running now...

Well if memory serves the Aeroflow models don't have great airflow. Depending on your case ventilation this might be an issue.

possibly....dont have great case cooling. 2 Lone fans. How about this? Ill leave everything at stocl for now. And when I get time, Ill buy a new case and new cooling etc.

ok put AS3. Temps down by 10 degreex 55 full load (60 max) comp[are to 65 load (67max). And on top of that I have raised te Vcore but another .025V.

I've hit 70 when I forget to turn my fans up and the temp in my room rises. Heat shouldn't be a problem unless you're running your chip on the bleeding edge. I'd rather have a margin of safety than a couple dozen mhz.

You should probably get some fans in there to push all the hot air out. Your hs/fan can only cool so much if you have dead, hot air in your case.

On the other hand, yay for A64 cool and quiet. At semi-idle (iTunes, mozilla, random little programs) I'm running at 35C, with ambient temp at 33C. Under idle my cpu can actually get colder than ambient.

I noticed that hot air would build up in the top of my case (seeing how it rises and all), and adding a top exhaust fan really helped me out.

Might work for your case temps (and subsequently your other temps).
