you cant really go wrong with any brand of 6600GT.

as for me i just purchaced one the other day from newegg, the one i bought was the XFX AGP one.

the sole reason i bought it was that it was on sale, down from 225 to 203, it also has dual DVI, and also comes with the 500MHz memory than the 450MHz specification.

pick your card on which is more valuable to you

cheaper price
game set
outputs
noise (hard to judge from looking at some pictures or a box)

and go for it! the leadtek was what i was going to get if the XFX wasnt on sale btw.

MSI, despite how much i dont trust them in the MB market (though they are putting out some good boards now) makes excellent video cards as well, and feature all copper coolers for both the AGP and PCIe versions of the 6600GT.

I second the XFX choice - mines running lovely. doesn't get too hot like everyone seemed to be saying about the originals. I think they improved the heatsink at some point.

if im not mistaken, the XFX,MSI, and Asus all have the 500 rated RAM, rather than the 450 that is standard for AGP.

The XFX is nice looking, Good design, and decent game bundle.
The MSI looks a lil better to me, has a better game bundle(as MSI always does)
The Asus has nothing special to mention in these aspects.

My personal pick would be the MSI, but either MSI or XFX would do you well. Ive used them both, and performance is on par with either. Just pick the one that has the games you like more.

BTW, the MSI comes with more cables because it is a true VIVO unit.

TSK TSK TSK. Not to be biased or anything but that is not entirely true. Stay away from manufacturers like AOpen and Apollo. Not good. Not good at all.

Leadtek is a really good brand.

The truth is, you can go wrong with a brand... namely PNY, or XFX.

Best brands are eVGA, Leadtek, BFG. At least those are the ones I like, there may be others that are also good.

I like my BFG's 6600GT OC's I got them with a 10% off coupon match at a local retailer so they were $225 each. /great support, lifetime warranty. I waited on hold with XFX once for 40 minutes, then the guy didn't even speak english.

I have XFX as well.. works fine, I got it because of the dual DVI. Not that I even have ONE DVI-capable monitor, but maybe I'll win the lottery and then I can buy two 65" DLP TV's with DVI inputs. yeah, that's it...

I'm with Nitro on this one... I have a BFG 6600GT OC... unlike other 6600GT cards, the BFGs come overclocked overspec at 550mhz core and 1050mhz memory... they are also warrantied for LIFE.

I got mine at Chumbo.com. If you're going to get a 6600GT, why not get the fastest out of the box with a lifetime garauntee?

I would take exception to AnandTech's review in this case. There are a lot of people reporting problems with XFX 6600GT cards for various reasons, and one important factor the AnandTech review failed to mention is XFX's customer service, which by all counts sucks.

They also mentioned the XFX 6600GT is "overclocked" from spec... well... official NVidia specs for the AGP version of the 6600GT is 500 core, 900 memory. XFX left the core alone and tweaked the memory to 1000mhz. BFG overclocked to 550 core and 1050 memory, plus they have a lifetime garauntee and great customer service.

Seems to me AndandTech was sold on what I consider the most useless feature of the XFX card... the fact it has TWO DVI connectors. I have tons of friends... I don't know a single guy who uses two flat panel monitors... maybe everybody on the AndandTech staff uses two LCD monitors, but I don't know any average-joes who do this (If you're a rich performance freak with money to blow and are about to raise your hand, zip it now!). For me, one analog and one DVI on a card is plenty fine. I just don't see dual DVI outputs as being a selling point to any average joe (if you have the money for two LCD panels why are you buying a 6600GT?).

Bottom line, XFX customer support stinks, BFGs are overclocked faster then the XFX, and who the heck cares if it has two DVI outputs? I disagree with AnandTech's endorsement of the XFX card... they should have considered the BFG (did they even review the BFG?).

Oh, for the record, the BFG 6600GT has a copper cooler as well!

My friend recieved the MSI 6600GT for Christmas, I like that particular card above the others because if you look closely, it's heatsink is all copper, and completely covers the RAM modules. reference (It also comes with a killer software bundle )

Quoted for truth - I have no experience with XFX, but I've heard so many horror stories about PNY, and have had a few of my own. I won't touch PNY products with a 10 foot pole - they're cheaply made.

I'm running a Leadtek 6600GT (PCI E) right now, and I love it. Not a single hiccup from it, got it OCed nice and healthy.

I have a vantec slot card near mine and its OCed to 580/1160 and never goes above 60C under load.

My friend had 6600GT XFX that works fine, I think that's the older version, temperature is around 60C while gaming, would love to see how much it cools with the new fansink just that they don't sell it individually.
