I am trying to decide if this would be a good upgrade over my 5900. I have $80 in gift cards at Bestbuy too.

But whether the webpage says or not, they are out of stock. I called yesterday; they said maybe get them in in a week. That is questionable though.

That's a great price on a 6600GT, however the key to this deal is that its AGP. The AGP versions are seeing some price gouging. When $220 seems to be a "good" deal on AGP, $187 looks very good.

not worth it IMHO, however you could sell off the 5900 and then $80 in gift cards should have you spending very little cash. But I just wouldn't consider the 6600GT that much of an upgrade over a 5900, especially when you claim to be running 5950 speeds.

Well it looks like it is online only, both are available. I stand corrected about XFX, from I have read around about them their newer cards are really good and overclock well. I thought I read somewhere they come clocked higher, is that correct? I havent seen many vouching for PNY cards lol. I think most companies have bad stories but I would still try any brand...except maybe sparkle.

i have had a pny geforce ti-4200 for years now, its overclocked and runs awesome. so for those of you who are thinking about getting this card, i would say its a great deal, and not to worry about what other people think

Nice. It comes with a HDTV component cable like the PNY, but not dual DVI. The newegg reviews show some pretty good overclocks.

newegg and buyxg have tax for me (CA), so i'm just going for the PNY at BB since it comes out cheapest (vs $209 @ newegg or $204 @ buyxg, after tax/shipping ) . With double reward zone points, it comes out to $195 after tax and shipping for me (i ordered more than a card since double RZ points requires $299 & up).

This is very tempting. 3 year warranty is pretty decent. I really want a 6800GT but $200 vs. $390 makes me want to buy this.

I picked one up. For just over $200 shipped this is a better deal than buying th card at cost using my CompUSA employee discount. Should be a nice upgrade from my Radeon 9550 (puke)

i purchased a PNY 6800 on Black Friday. i didn't have any missing capacitors, i don't get artifacts, the heatsink/fan works just fine and it overclocks higher than the standard overclock that BFG ships with. i would buy it again if i needed another.

It's all up to t he company to step up their QA because I know some people who have had PNY for a while and their cards are running great.

thats such a poor analogy, such an apples to oranges comparison, it makes me foam at the mouth in discust.

1) Never compare quality control in the tech industry to the auto industry. Automobiles are MUCH more complicated and have far more room for failure than a manufactured PCB.

2) Cars are built everywhere but China/Taiwan. Videocards (with the exception of VisionTek and their assets) are virtually all built in China/Taiwan. This alone should give you an idea about quality control differences in those fields.

3) Being a Ford engineer, trust #1 and #2.

4) PNY makes crap. XFX doesn't. It's been that way for quite awhile. Looking up any trusted review, for example, the 6600GT Roundup on Anandtech posted last month, XFX makes a VERY good card.

5) Searching Google for PNY reviews not only turns up a surprising low # of reviews, but PNY themselves dont offer many cards to begin with. The reviews I browsed through complained about fan problems with Geforce4's all the way through capacitor problems with the 6800's.

You make some good points but I'm not comparing the computers to cars it was just an analogy so people can understand. I never said PNY was good nor did I say it was bad but it's up to people to choose what they want to buy and it's their money. I know alot of people say my Ultra X-Connect psu sucks but I got no complaints about it. As long as there are people who had bad experiece with anything out there they will always say X product isn't good and one last thing, I don't take any reviews serious because it's all just referece to me and I always try to find the best deals/brand when purchasing.

Has anyone tried price matching @ compusa with this? My local one has it in stock and I'd rather do that to avoid shipping

I am gonna try this afternoon. I have my printout ready to go and hope I can get it, but overnight shipping is only $10 so not horrible if I can't.

Just returned from CompUSA and was able to price match the BB flyer. I was a little worried the lady was calling the manager because it came out to $20 below CompUSA's minimum cost ... but he said to give it anyway. There was one let at the Edison store when I left there around 4:15.

No store in Colorado will have them for another week. Just spoke with manager about it. He also mentioned that even though they are listed as "available in store" online, that doesn't mean they have them. It just means they carry them.

I'm wondering if I went into the store if I could get a raincheck on it. Anyone tried this?

Personally, I bought a PNY Geforce 2 GTS 64mb card at fry's for like $125 or something when it was brand new...I knew the price was too good. That pos card had so many software and hardware conflictions I ended up getting a voodoo4 instead after only a couple weeks. During those couple weeks I used it, not once did I ever get a reply from PNY tech support.

XFX = Pine = avoid. I wouldnt say PNY is much better, but at least nvidia trusts them enough to manufacture and sell their quadro line of professional cards. BFG's quality isnt very impressive either, but at least they have good service and support. Leadtek, Asus, Chaintech and Abit have always been good to me.

XFX used to be bad but you are wrong- the XFX 6600GT is one of the best selling right now its 1000mhz from the factory. Excellent reviews.
