all I got to say is that a few people's misfortune doesnt necessarily make it into a bad product. Some toyota's and honda's are defected from factory but does it make them bad cars no? Sometimes you have good cards and sometimes you have bad cards. It's all up to t he company to step up their QA because I know some people who have had PNY for a while and their cards are running great.
thats such a poor analogy, such an apples to oranges comparison, it makes me foam at the mouth in discust.
1) Never compare quality control in the tech industry to the auto industry. Automobiles are MUCH more complicated and have far more room for failure than a manufactured PCB.
2) Cars are built everywhere but China/Taiwan. Videocards (with the exception of VisionTek and their assets) are virtually all built in China/Taiwan. This alone should give you an idea about quality control differences in those fields.
3) Being a Ford engineer, trust #1 and #2.
4) PNY makes crap. XFX doesn't. It's been that way for quite awhile. Looking up any trusted review, for example, the 6600GT Roundup on Anandtech posted last month, XFX makes a VERY good card.
5) Searching Google for PNY reviews not only turns up a surprising low # of reviews, but PNY themselves dont offer many cards to begin with. The reviews I browsed through complained about fan problems with Geforce4's all the way through capacitor problems with the 6800's.
