Hi,
I've read some articles about 6600GT with 1.6ns is good at overclock.. or something like that..
most 1.6ns DDR3 should reach 500/1100 and the rest 2.0ns should be 500/900mhz

my asking is, for that 200mhz, how big is the difference? Like i said earlier before, I feel like overclocking a videocard will not give you a huge performance gain. Just for fun. and it just shorten the card's life... like my past away R9800p... ... ...

For ex. comparing this 2 kinds of cards, how many fps will u see the difference in Doom3 and HL2?

Thanks

not a big difference at all...infact while playing u wont notice anything....i guess the difference would show when the details are cranked up a little

For example,

If i am going to play the game at 1280x1024@32bit no aa/AF

will i see difference..

sometimes i see people talk so excited about overclocking the videocard, but what i see the difference is 5fps. or 10fps.. but end up spending another $50.. for a huge HSF..

I enjoy tweaking the card too, but just for 5 to 10fps, i would rather leave it that way...

oh, btw, i heard that ATi has better 2D quality than nVidia, like DVD playback and browsing the internet, is it true? I browse the net alot, i spend more time on browsing than playing games..

Most cards overclock well even with 2.0ns ram. I can get mine to 1232 on the memory and it has 2.0ns. Granted you will need some cooling for it. But memory speed does make somewhat of a difference. But not enough in games to make it really worth the extra cash.

actually i think 2.0ns is rated for 1GHz and 1.6ns is rated for 1.2GHz. Of course, you can probably get faster - i think i saw a 1.6ns 6600GT OC'ed to 1300+ MHz, and my 2.0ns version runs fine at 1155. But i'm not sure if the 1.6ns results are typical or not. Whatever you do, though, don't pay a big premium for the 1.6ns - i've seen the differences as large as $50, which is rediculous for the maybe 3% performance benefit

1.6ns = 625MHz (1.25GHz DDR) rated speed.
2.0ns = 500MHz (1GHz DDR) rated speed.
pretty big difference.

I would say only if those few extra frames made a higher resolution/quality playable. If you were already getting 70 frames per second and you added 10 more it wouldn't make a bit of differance.

that's why i can't decide with one to get...

6600GT 1.6 or 2.0 and 6800 NU

I was about to get 6800NU, but the price difference (of 6600GT) is huge, at least just doesn't equal to what i will get.
