Ok, i just put together a new computer and the specs are as follows

DFI Lanparty Ultra-D
6600GT PCI
512 x2 corsair XMS ram
3500+ skt 939
ultra-x 500W PSU

So my problem:

When I put everything where it goes and turn on the computer, the fans spin, lights light up, HD spins (pretty sure it is) DVD-Rom drive opens..BUT i have NO video output to my monitor. I have tried playing around w/ the VGA & PCI jumpers but neither setting in neither slot seem to work.

Now the bigger problem is I have no idea whether this is video card related or if it is a mobo issue. My vid card fan spins so it is obviously getting power from the mobo through the PCI slot since the fan is connected to the card itself. The mobo has 4 red lights in the bottom corner that don't go away once I turn on the computer and the manual is about as basic as they come, there is no problemsolving section.

any help would be GREATLY appreciated

THanks

This is most likely a mobo problem. Same thing happened to my cousins rig, which turned out the PC case created a short in the mobo and fried it. He got a new case and a new mobo, and the problem was fixed.

Sorry if this doesnt sound like good news to you...

well i'd rather it be the mobo than the CPU...i've been reading on the net and there doesn't seem to be a clear reason for this. The 4 lights indicate that the CPU isnt being detected, but is this a MOBO or CPU issue? I guess I can always RMA the mobo back to Newegg and see what they send me

Any other ideas?

Exact same thing happened with my cousins mobo. It said it was a CPU related problem, which it wasn't. Like I said, his case caused a short in his mobo, frying it. The CPU and video card (and everything else) were fine.

I'd personally try setting up your parts on some cardboard, and if they dont work then, get a new mobo and set your system up again on cardboard. If it works, it's likely your case thats causing a problem.

something similiar happened to me a while back. everything powered up, fans running, lights on, but no display, no beeps, no boots past bios, nothing. i thought my card was at fault since i wasn't getting a display, but it turned out that my xp-m 2600 died on me. so i'm thinking your problem is cpu related. try reinstalling your cpu and clearing your cmos.

1. Read the manual
2. If that fails, follow the manual.
3. Have you plugged it in? Sounds stupid of me to say that, but there is more than one power plug for the board that you need to connect. There is the main 24-pin ATX power plug that you most likely plugged in as it is the most obvious. There is a second 4-pin 12V power plug between the CPU socket and the 24-pin ATX power plug. There is a third 5V/12V power plug next to the northbridge. There is a fourth 5V/12V power plug between the 16X PCIe slot and the CPU.

4 LEDs = System Startup
3 LEDs = CPU detected
2 LEDs = DRAM detected
1 LEDs = VGA detected
0 LEDs = System Boot-up

If you need any more help, let me know.

This may be a very stupid suggestion, but I had the same problem you had with no video output on my monitor. I removed the card to vacuum dust off it and did not fully insert the card into the motherboard when I put it back. Perhaps its not in the slot properly? Somehow I was still getting the fan to spin on startup when it wasn't in the slot properly.

Thanks, that's actually teh 1st thing I did. I finally solved the problem. I got the 4 pin power supply to mobo...it finally lit up the monitor, but upon doing so,my HS fan stopped spinning, so I plugged that fan directly into a 4 pin power supply w/ an adapter...voila it works!!!

thanks
