$68 1TB Internal Hard Drive

I got it in yesterday. Came with bad sectors. Newegg crap packaging with 1 side with no packing peanuts.

I just received an order from them. It was a Samsung DVD-R/W & 4GB notebook memory.
I opened up the top side & there was everything staring at me. Underneath it was a bunch of crumbled up brown paper.
You'd think they'd put packing material in the bottom & the top with the merchandise in between, but what do I know?

I put this drive in a Tivo HD as a replacement for a failing 160 GB drive. So far, so good. It is reasonable quiet, and runs cool.

Hitachi is warrantied until they fail. I dont know a single person who had a positive outcome with them if you ever need a replacement. They denied me on several drives claiming they were OEM and I needed to contact the PC vendor they came in when they were all purchased from places like newegg and frys.

Picked up 2 of these 1 TB retail boxed drives at Micro center a few months ago for $69.99 each. Haven't had any problems with them. Quiet, fast and cool. What more could you want for $70 bucks?

Well, now you do. I sent off a 500GB Hitachi last year and got back a replacement in ~10 business days. Their service seemed fine to me.

A lot of the hard drives sold by Newegg and Frys are OEM-if they are listed as bare bones then they are OEM. The difference is eighty cents worth of cable and screws, and the warranty. Look for something labeled retail kit if you want the full manufacturer's warranty.

Right, we do - except that out of 10 people only one would be prejudice against WD and the other 9 would be against Hitachi
