Just a note that the Xtasy x800 XT at Microcenter is not the XT PE made by ATI. The x800 XT's clock speeds are between the Pro and the XT PE versions. You can see a comparison by going to ATI's website http://apps.ati.com/ATIcompare/.

I bought a regular 6800 at Circuit City on 12/22, and paid $319 after tax. I'm going to return it, and basically get a GT for the same price! this is such an awesome deal!

I could probably return it to Newegg but I would have to pay a 15% restock fee which kind of kills this deal for me (besides my wife being extremely pissed with me if I did it). At least HalfLife2 plays fluidly with the 6800NU at 1280x1024 on my LCD.

See, half-life 2 would stutter every now and then on my 6800 nu at 1280 x 1024, which is why I jumped at this GT. I searched the web looking for a solution but then decided the 6800 nu just couldn't handle it smoothly.

Is the X800 XT $80 dollars better than the 6800 GT?

I know Its clocked 75mhz slower in memory (500--575) and 20mhz core (500--520) compared to the XT PE.

Suttering had nothing to do with the hardware it was just bad coding by valve but it's now fixed. Most of the stutter is fixed at the loading scene with a a few pause delay.

btw, nice deal on those 6800NU Probably able to unlock those badboy to 16x6! and no tax in cali I believe. Yay to no cali nazi tax.

You can unlock the last 4 pipes on a 6800, but you'll get artifacts, and the pipes are a bitch to close again.

It runs smoothly 95% of the time then I will get a few seconds of stuttering which I always figured was a background task running (email coming in or something). It has been running very well for a game not "made" for nvidia cards. Im waiting for F.E.A.R. next

About 5 days after I bought the 6800NU I figured out that I had enough money to pick up a GT but it was too late. I had been waiting wayyy too long for a 6600GT AGP to come in and jumped when the 6800 came into stock at Newegg. I shouldn't have been so quick to jump the gun...

I found it was extremely easy to reclose the pipes. Just uncheck the box in Rivatuner, hit Ok, and reboot. Pipes closed...

thanks OP! ordered mine too, same question about shipping, anyone know how prompt they are and does it make since to get the silencer 5 with this card? my case has pretty good ventilation now.
