Just received my BFG 6800 GT OC around a week ago. It's definitely an amazing card! Hit about 12k on 3dmark with nothing overclocked, and obviously I have a ton of play to come!
HOWEVER, that being said, as of yesterday I've been having some problems. It would seem whenever I open a game, or anything graphic intensive, the screen would be filled with artifacts and the computer would either restart by itself, or freeze all together. (I'm posting from it now, it's strictly when games/graphics are involved.)
I've done a bunch of searches and the only thing I can think of, is that my PSU is dying. I've gone ahead and ordered a PC Power and Cooling 510 deluxe, which will be here tomorrow (Was in the market for a new PSU anyways, lol), however, I'm wondering if this could in fact be the signs of yet another dying 6800 gt card. (Seems they've been popping up more frequently...)
As it stands right now, here are my system specs (NOTHING is overclocked... yet =X ):
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Motherboard
P4 3.0c 800mhz
1 gb Corsair XMS 3200LLPRO
BFG 6800 GT OC
Running on a pretty old 400watt antec PSU
Along with my other drives:
36gb WD Raptor SATA drive
120gb WD IDE drive
40gb WD IDE drive
And then my optical drives and floppy, and 2 120mm case fans, etc...
CPU temp never goes over ~35c under load (Water cooled)
and the 6800 idles at about 58c (Haven't been able to check under load, and it's running the normal BFG dual fan, not the reference.)
What have peoples experiences been when it comes to determining if their GT is in fact dying? Is there a way to actually tell if it's the PSU and a lack of power getting to the GT as opposed to the gt dying by itself?
Any help would be appreciated!
