I am getting ready to build a new comp and my friend has a ATI 9800 PRO All in Wonder but people seem to recommend the 6800 GT I was wondering how much difference I would see between the 2 in mainlky MMORPG and RTS Gaming with a little FPS

You will see a massive difference.

However, the difference in price is 200 dollars.

The 6800GT costs 400, while the 9800 Pro costs 200.

But the cost is well worth it, if you can spend the cash.

If you want comparisons for a bunch of games, click the Video tab at the top of the page for articles like comparison

Note it lists a 9800XT which is at least 10% faster than the 9800 Pro / AIW.

FYI, don't get an All-in-Wonder anything unless you REALLY want the extra features (tv tuner, etc).

6800 GT will beat 9800 Pro in any gaming benchmark I can think of... in many cases it will cream it.

You should compare the 6800GT to the X800PRO. The prices are a bit closer, as well as the power.

Did you mean 6600GT and 9800pro? Cause comparing 6800 to 9800 is like comparing a yugo to a ferrari.

The 6800GT is **WAY** better than the 9800 pro both in performance AND in support. I despise Ati for these foolish drivers they release...

But - remember this- The 6800gt also costs double. It sure as hell doesnt perform double, though it performs waaay better.

Keep that in mind when buying... Price needs to warrant performance.

Unless youre me and you have no life and youll buy buy buy with your computer because it is your life.

nothing wrong with the ati drivers m8, if u have been using recent drivers- certainly not 'foolish'- IMHO, and certainly not worth 'despising' them for...

get the 9800pro and flash to XT if you're on a tight budget..but the 6800GT stock would beat the 9800 pro hands down by a huge margin

problem ATI drivers are years back.. lately they have been fantastic, and I've never had a problem with my 9800P no matter which driver is installed.

This seems rather obvious if he meant 6800GT vs 9800pro. I mean, for $200 you better get better performance. Although, in this case it is more night and day than any other hardware upgrade Ive ever made. I went 9700pro -> 6800GT...WOW!

Yugo to Ferrari? More like a '69 Charger to a Ferrari. Its still awesome, just not top of the line any more.
Probably the best buy mid-range right now. 100 bucks cheaper than the vanilla 6800 and it by no means sucks.

[rethoric question by ATI hater, get a 5900XT or 6800GT]

Until the 6600GT comes out in AGP format, the 9800 Pro is the best midrange card out right now. You can't get a better card for the price.

As everyone else said though, if you CAN swing the $400 price tag, the 6800GT is unbelievable.

I've never had a problem with my ati cards. Doesn't mean I wouldn't try an nvidia though. If I'm comparing , I'd have to compare 6800GT and 800XT to compare apples to apples. Sounds like they both have their advantages and disadvantages. And looking at some of these other guys posts in here, you and I are newcomers too Malladine.

I currently have a non-pro 9800 and its just a little on the slow side with just about everything. A pro sound be fast enough for all the new things as long as you don't max out your settings. I usually run at 1280x1024 with no AA or AF and it does fine. With AA or AF it drops off enough to be annoying. This should be better with a pro which is about 10% to 15% faster clock/memoryspeed if i remember right.

Here is the nifty thing right now, used 9800 pro's right now are being sold like hotcakes. If you watch carefully you can easily get them BELOW $150. A new GT is ~$400. A used 9800 pro is $130. Do that math and it doesn't pan out =/ Just sone old guys oppinion. My goal is to snag a 6600 GT in AGP form in about 6 months for the same price I bought my pro...then sell the pro for $90 or so...
