Got mine as well..

I received another email from John Malley, Marketing and PR Director at BFG Tech today, he said "Did you happen to place an order today with Chumbo? They posted a bundle with two of the cards and power supply for $850. Everything sold out within two hours."

I wrote him an email yesterday about having to buy 2 power supplies if you want 2 cards. I told him it doesn't make sense and it was a horrible marketing stratagy. Today, when i found out about the bundle with two cards, I called and placed my order with Andrew at Chumbo. He asked if I was the guy that wrote the email to John Malley? I said, Yea.. how did you hear about that? He said you are reason that the "Super Power Bundle" came to be.

Now you know the story

Congrats on those who got in on this deal.. wow...2 hours!

I'm glad I saw the link. Got my confirmation number and message that my order is in the warehouse. I hope they don't send me a "Sorry backorder" type of email!!

I am a bit pissed at Chumbo right now. I signed up for email notification when the BFG was available. I can keep an eye on my email all day but not this forum. I got nothing. Not even after the fact. Well congrats to those who managed to get in.

I'm going to have to agree with Mudbone on this one.

After reading this and other forums, seemed like Chumbo was the place to watch. I had the site set to mail me when they received any. Since it wasn't even possilbe to pre-order the card, I called and spoke with Andrew on wednesday (17th) about when they might be receiving any. He told me they should be receiving a shippment the next day, and suggested I sign up for the mail notification. I checked my mail and the link to the card http://www.chumbo.com/Info.aspx?id=242673 all day long, and nadda.

Today I call, Andrew claims they only received enough cards to fill their backorder, and that they've pulled the card from their web page because they don't know at this point if they will carry it again due to the availability.

So, back to my original point, gotta agree with Mudbone that it's salt in the wound to find out that they did sell cards yesterday, but pushed them with PS's and didn't mail those of us waiting for the card to become available.

Grrr, not happy.

Grats to those that got one. Guess my asus sli board will collect some more dust.

Hello all. This is Andrew from Chumbo.com. I thought I would sign up to try an address any issues/concerns I may be able to help with.

I also want to thank those of you for the kind words mentioned here and assure you we are doing our best to ship all of the orders we have and provide the best service we can.

I may not have a lot of time to address concerns here (as I am at work now) but I will do my best.

Side note: I don't intend to try and "sell" anything to you here. In addition, I will only be able to address general questions. If you have a question about your particular order please contact our customer service.

Looks like I'm gonna wind up waiting a great while longer before I get an SLI setup for home. I'm quite disappointed at the limited availablity and extreme price gouging that is occuring with nVidia PCI-E cards.

Grats to all those who were able to score some!

Like the rest of you I had signed up with Chumbo for stock notification of the BFG 6800GT OC card. I understand how I didn?t get notification of it being in stock because the item number for the card and power supply is different. I happened to read this post and saw they had the 2 Card + PS option and purchased it yesterday. When I called today I was told it would be shipping out today. We will see if that happens this is my first experience with purchasing from Chumbo and I will add I was extremely happy with the pricing. Even with the PS option (I didn't need the PS but I guess a spare is ok) they were much cheaper than the other places I have purchased from in the past Newegg and Zipzoomfly. There was NO way I was going to be price gouged and purchase a card from them. I would rather wait and finish building my new system than spend hundreds more for something. I will be checking Chumbo for all my future purchases. The girl I spoke to this morning from Chumbo (Connie) was really pleasant and a pleasure to speak with. I also received an e-mail from her confirming my items would ship today. Hats off to Andrew for posting here as well. Good luck to the rest of you in getting the items you are looking for. This was the first time I decided to build something using components that are only being released to OEM?s and frankly will be the last time. I will admit I knew before hand this was the case so I am just being patient with the waiting game.

Andrew - do you have any ETA from BFG for their Ultra OC PCI-e cards?

I purchased two 6800GT PCI-E's from your first shipment and definitely want (2) BFG Ultra PCI-e's when they are available!

Keep up the great work - Chumbo definitely deserves recognition and will continue to get my future business!

I don't yet have word on the Ultra version. I'll send a few emails and report back with what I can find out.

Andrew,

Is there any knowledge on when the BFG 6800GT PCI-E's will be available for purchase w/o the power supply. As it stands, i have no need at all for any additional power supplies given that i already have several good 400-500W spares (OCZ/Fortron), and therefore cannot justify the additional 100 dollar expense. Furthermore, I purchased an SLI motherboard so that i would have a good upgrade path for the future, when i could afford an additional card. As it seems, because of the neccesary purchase of a PS w/ a single card, it seems like neither will be possible.

Sorry guys...

[rant]
Hello Andrew,

I just noticed you posted here between the time of my post and the angry email I just sent the service@chumbo.com address.

My main gripe here is that I spoke with you on wednesday, you told me Chumbo was getting a shipment in tomorrow, no promises if there would be extras after filling back orders. Sign up for the email notification. Check my mail and your site, it shows 'Highly Allocated' all day long (and I mean I checked all day long).

Today I call, you tell me you only had enough to fill back orders. GAH!!! I can understand that you guys want to push some PS out the door, but could you at least have notified those of us waiting on your notification list of that??!!??

That's my question. You can answer it at your leasure, if you so choose. I'm just not sure why you bothered to post when you didn't answer any questions, other than to attempt to smooth things over without actually fixing anything.
[/rant]

thanks to everyone else on this forum for all the tips. The hunt continues...

Ha ha, i dont think u need to try and sell anything. Right now many ppl will mortgage their right nut sack for a pci-e gt card at reg msrp price.

I just want to say that chumbo has been great, they have totally been my sli meal ticket.

I was gonna wait for all the sli hoopla to die down so i can get all this stuf at a reasonable price, was not gonna get gouged.

I preordered the asus sli board on a lark at chumbo and recd it much faster than i thought. Now with my bfg card shipping, i got the 2 of main pieces at retail, 201 and 399 respectively, free ship.

I can't think of another retailer that has sold both without gouging the crap out of ppl.

Good job Chumbo, you've got a customer for life. (This should be a warning to the gougers, the potential sli purchaser is the prototypical big spender, frequent upgrader who influences alot of purchases for friends n family. Gouging them only hurts u in the long run)

K

I am indeed trying to answer any questions I can. If there are questions I have missed please ask and I will do my best.

In regards to the email...

I agree that it would have been best to try and inform folks about the bundles. The way the notification is set up it only generates an email when the particular item has enough stock for new orders. Obviously, being that we were only able to fill back orders for the single cards this email was not generated automatically. After filling the backorders we were notified that, going forward, any remaining cards were to be sold ONLY as the bundle and therefore there was not an automatic email.

It was an oversight on our part to have not manually sent an email informing people of the new bundle and I apologize. Please understand that yesterday was a VERY hectic day with the last minute bundle change, the amount of shipping, and the call volumes we were receiving.

In addition, please let me say again that I will do my best to keep up with this forum but please understand that I must give priority to my normal duties and may not be able to post often.

I can see the point of missing an 'automatic' mail message, but I did speak to you personally on the phone twice. Neither time was I informed about a bundle, and I feel were mislead to believe that the cards you did receive all went to back order customers.

All in all, it's a moot point anyway if Chumbo won't be stocking the cards in the forseeable future. You can always respond to my email if there's more to add.

Cheers

I just got my notification my bundle was shipped.

Aside from the debate about the missed notifications I would like to thank Chumbo for at least not price gouging like all these other vendors are doing, that really says a lot about Chumbo. I spoke with Andrew earlier and was unaware of the notifications not going out but again and I'm sure if you stay on top of this thread and contact Chumbo timely you will get your 6800GT soon enough.

Also thanks for the $5 overnight shipping, THAT is just unheard of.

I am grateful I stumbled on the posts here early enough to get one.

>>>Oh and the wifey that I mention below gave me a big BITCH SLAP for buying this without telling her!!!!

I hope that means I got in because i just did it 45 minutes ago--or so.

Ah yes, that was great timing! Mine shipped out today!

Sorry, not trying to aggrivate those who were waiting for email notification. My condolences, but maybe they couldnt get a notification out since this bundle sold out in less than 2 hours.

I don't. In fact, we may not carry the cards any longer.

For availibilty on any BFG items it would probably be most acurate to call them directly.

Andrew, please understand that those of us who missed out are mainly disappointed. The listing for the BFG 6800 GT OC at $399 was up on your web site for quiet some time. Possibly over 2 weeks, I am not real sure. You impressed many here on AT with what seemed to be your willingness to sell the cards at MSRP when you got them in stock. With the level of price gouging that has gone on and continues to go on with these cards, Chumbo was set to get a lot of sales and just as important, loyalty. Many of us made a decison to wait until you had the card, even if it was going to take several weeks. Now I realize that Chumbo wasn't going to get in an unlimited amount of cards. Even the change in the price and bundle would not have thrown me off. I just decided to suck it up and pay $500 for one card from another vendor. Hopefully I can make it up on the second card, once all the BS has died down. I would have been more than willing to pay $849 for two and a PSU I didn't need. I do have a few questions if you don't mind.

1. You mentioned filling back orders first. In the entire time the page was up for this card, I didn't see a way to order the card. Where did the back orders come from? If I had been given the means, I would have put down $798 on a pair as a pre-order.

2. Where did the bundle deal come from? Was this a situation that was imposed upon Chumbo by BFG in order to get you a supply of the cards?

3. To repeat TM, why would you stop selling these cards? Is there something about the recent situation that has put you at odds with BFG? Or has selling these cards in this type of market been more hassle than its worth?

I can answer that one. BFG made it a requirement that Chumbo put a PSU with the card.

See email written to me from BFG:

We understand your frustration with the current situation. However, because this product is currently in very high demand and very low stock, our retail customers* do not want us to sell direct from BFG (in this case, through Chumbo**) to compete with their sales. The only way we can offer this product direct from BFG/Chumbo without offending our retail customers is to combine it with another product such as the power supply.

* Refers to other retailers, ie: Monarch, ZZF, NewEgg and so on.
** Chumbo is BFG's retailer to end users such as us. If you click the "Buy BFG" on bfgtech.com, you get Chumbo.com

As you can see, it is not Andrews fault or Chumbos fault. I will continue to buy from Chumbo and I for one am glad i found them. Andrew has given me and many others who have called him, all the information he has. He held nothing back and for that I commend him.

As for BFG, I think, with the reputation they have for quality and service, should "Grow Some Balls" and sell them for MSRP, as was the original plan. Everyone knows BFG exists and can find bfgtech.com to buy them if the other retailers decided to boycot BFG. Then, chumbo/bfg can make the money. Hell, bestbuy sells BFG products at retail, I bet they would LOVE to have the chance to sell these. Althought, that would never happen, considering the supply and demand of the cards and people viviting online retailers that normally dont get the business that ZZF or NE gets, when they have the BFG card in stock. It gives Monarch and the other smaller companies a chance to show off what they have to customer that would have never stopped by the site before. A good example is me. I never knew of Chumbo until i started looking for my cards. Now, Chumbo has a loyal customer. These other retailers that were mad that BFG/Chumbo were selling for retail is thier problem, its called supply and demand. It seems that they have no problem charging us way over MSRP because of supply and demand, but yet, when the tables are turned and they are forced to compete with some ethics, they get pissed...

suprise, suprise suprise...

That makes me sick! Vendors like NewEgg, Monarch etc are upset that people can buy the cards at MSRP! They are actually upset that we aren't climbing up "their" backs to buy these cards at +$100 or more over MSRP. I had no idea that it was this bad.

These are the times when the wolf comes out and you see what these vendors are really like. They already have loyal customers and want to screw us further when given the chance. I'm almost done with these guys and I've done business loyally with Newegg for as long as I've known about them.. 3-4years now.

Man this pisses me off.
