For availibilty on any BFG items it would probably be most acurate to call them directly.

Andrew, please understand that those of us who missed out are mainly disappointed. The listing for the BFG 6800 GT OC at $399 was up on your web site for quiet some time. Possibly over 2 weeks, I am not real sure. You impressed many here on AT with what seemed to be your willingness to sell the cards at MSRP when you got them in stock. With the level of price gouging that has gone on and continues to go on with these cards, Chumbo was set to get a lot of sales and just as important, loyalty. Many of us made a decison to wait until you had the card, even if it was going to take several weeks. Now I realize that Chumbo wasn't going to get in an unlimited amount of cards. Even the change in the price and bundle would not have thrown me off. I just decided to suck it up and pay $500 for one card from another vendor. Hopefully I can make it up on the second card, once all the BS has died down. I would have been more than willing to pay $849 for two and a PSU I didn't need. I do have a few questions if you don't mind.

1. You mentioned filling back orders first. In the entire time the page was up for this card, I didn't see a way to order the card. Where did the back orders come from? If I had been given the means, I would have put down $798 on a pair as a pre-order.

2. Where did the bundle deal come from? Was this a situation that was imposed upon Chumbo by BFG in order to get you a supply of the cards?

3. To repeat TM, why would you stop selling these cards? Is there something about the recent situation that has put you at odds with BFG? Or has selling these cards in this type of market been more hassle than its worth?

Jelliotts post is dead on regarding a lot of what went on.

To personally answer your questions:

1. There was a very short period of time in December where were allowed to take back orders. However, they pilled up so quickly we became worried we would never be able to fill them all. Therefore we cut off ANY ordering until we received a shipment.

2. The bundle deal (as explained in the email posted) was from BFG. We were told about going to the bundle on Tuesday morning. This was after the shipment had arrived. It was a last minute adjustment for us but a necessary step for BFG to appease many of their vendors.

3. Were are now (and have always) sold the items at the discretion of BFG. It is not our call. Personally, I would love to continue to carry their product line.

Andrew,

This is the first that many of us have heard with regards to how BFG is behaving. I made decision to buy the BFG card over eVGA, Asus, XFX, etc., based on warranty, customer service, and the card itself. I was willing to wait to get it at MSRP. I made the decision to purchase else where due to your statement that you didn't know when or if you would have them again. I am not trying blame anyone. My only disappoinment was that Chumbo didn't have the time or didn't realize the importance people were placing on the email notification to send out a manual email. I don't think it would have been all that hard to extract the email addresses from your database and send out a notice saying here is the new deal and they go on sale at such and such a time. After that you are own your own. I do not understand BFG's position at all. They could sell every card they made at $399 even if Chumbo was the only place to get it. They would still out sell the other manufacturers. BFG doesn't need the vendors, its the other way around. As was mention earlier, this is the type of product that generates site traffic and thus business. Vendors ought to be begging BFG to sell their product at what ever price BFG specifies. What you are saying leads me to believe that BFG may be so chickenshat as to stop selling through you at MSRP in order to "appease" other vendors. What BFG doesn't seem to understand is that if they came out and said, "Here is the MSRP of this card and that will be the price every where," that this would generate an enormous amount of customer loyalty. The amount of stress that this would relieve would be huge.

I wish it were like when you first saw a Playstation 2 or Xbox.. in the first few months there was a great demand but you could still get them at the store for MSRP when you found them. Sure we could buy them at MSRP and sell them on ebay for 2-3 times their worth but that was our choice after buying them as consumers. This is even worse because there is nothing in place to stop the "VENDORS" from doing this!!! That is what bugs me the most.

I am very troubled by this. Can you remember a time when you couldn't buy a part you wanted because NOBODY had them and when you did it was 2x MSRP? I can't. The last time I couldn't find a part was when Dual Channel Memory boards first came out... but I didn't see any price gouging to this level on them.

I am sorry to hear that many of you didn?t have a chance to purchase the cards while they were available. I also had many an e-mail notification up with a few sites and was just very lucky to have read about the PS-Card bundle on this forum and bought them ASAP. They arrived today in BFG packaging, not retail but white box but still containing cables, adapters and Far Cry game, I am very pleased. Anyhow I did pay far more than MSRP for the ASUS MB and didn?t know it. When I started to look into building a new SLI system and purchasing the items online I thought all I had to worry about was availability and not getting gouged on pricing. I didn?t think there was such a thing as price gouging online and I didn?t think the manufactures would even allow it! Man my eyes are wide open now; "Buyer Beware". Zipzoomfly, Newegg and Monarch had the cards in stock but wanted some ungodly amount for them and I passed. The lesson is to look long and hard and compare everything. This new system has cost me more than it should and has been a learning experience. I will not trust Newegg, Zipzoomfly or Monarch for pricing again.

Again how can the product manufactures allow the sellers to basically sell their product for whatever they want?

I wanted to add how happy I was dealing with Chumo. They were great to speak to on the phone, free 2nd day Fed Ex with a $5 upgrade to afternoon overnite was a complete surprise. Hopefully Chumbo will be able to expand their offerings and I will be checking with Chumbo for all future orders.

Its funny. Because I got the BFG6800gt from isquared.com OEM. I didn't get a 6pin power adapter. And NOBODY in the ENTIRE tri-state area of New York City has the adapter. The only way to get it is if it comes natively on your power supply or from inside a retail box which I of course don't have.

So basically I have the card on my desk.......unopened. And all I can do for entertainment is....just...sit there and stare at the card.

I called bfg and they are sending me a free adapter but that is taking days now. I might as well have waited for it retail from monarchcomputer cause I see their current price for the card is $475.00 which is what I paid isquared at OEM.

I hope this is OK to ask in this thread, but..

What is sold with these cards as far as a Bundle? Trying to find anything out about what comes with the eVGA card, for example, is near impossible. Can any of you that may have recieved a card yet write what came with your card?

I am only interested in the 6800GT and Ultra's.

For those annoyed by the wild prices swings and overpricing of the 6800 family of PCI-e cards, I couldn't agree more. However, while the stores' behavior is unfortunate, the blame really lies with the manufacturers. They could enforce the pricing through a retail price maintenance scheme. These are used all the time. As noted above, products like Xbox and PS2, which were the same price everywhere when released, are marketed under these types of agreements. In other words, if a vendor want to sell the product, they have to agree to sell it at no more or less than what the manufactuer specifies. So blame the manufacturers as well.

I can't agree more!

Also to reply to what came with my card. My card is a BFG 6800GT OC. It came with the double molex to PCI-E power adapter and two DVI-VGA gender changers. And Farcy.

Well I thought I would add that the BFG bundle that BFG forced on Chumbo was a scam. Yeah I'm happy I got one but the PS that was bundled is a Piece of Crap (as I expected I guess) it has a 15a 12v rail! (Why in heavens name would BFG pawn these with an SLI bundle?) Then the PS also have these short cables that I basically couldn't even use in my Lian-Li V1000 case. Oh well I didn't buy the bundle for the PS I bought it so I could get the card and I figured "Hey, maybe, just maybe the PS will be worth $100."

<sigh>

I ended up using a 20pin Antec 430W Truepower from my current system until I can decide on a better one for SLI.

I noticed a couple folks here bought the 2 pack. I bought the single. How was your experience with your PS included in the bundle?

I forgot to mention that it looked like the PS was dropped before it was packed at BFG! One of screw tabs was bent and folded inwards.

I bought the 2 card deal.. working fine for me... however, im not using the included PS.. I am using my OCZ (Which hasn't YET given me ANY problems).

The BFG PS says a MAX of 18A.. yes, while it IS weak, if forced, you could use it as a back-up and run only one card and get away with it until the new one gets installed..

BFG PS Tech Specs: http://www.bfgtech.com/images/...pplyspecifications.pdf

As far as benchies go:

All stock settings..

3DMARK 05 : 6879 <--- low, but I bet it has a LOT to do with my slow CPU
(trial version, no link)

3DMARK 03 : 19025

Thx for thread Mr. Nobody - helped me decide to get BFG 6800GT from Monarch. Even though $475 is high it's not as bad a ripoff as other vendors and...

3500+ 90mm is now $264
AN8 sli-deluxe is now $188

so at least the total package price is starting to stabilize. Ordered Sun, shipped Mon.

Thanks for the information. The "3DMARK 03 : 19025" is SLI right? So that is about what I can expect that's about right since I was getting around 12K with one GPU. I'm probably going to upgrade my PS that I'm using anyhow, prob order it today.

Now I am wigging for a second 6800GT to complete the SLI but have to fight the tempation until prices stabilize.
