ok I noticed something but disregarded it as a fluke before. When entering the display properties. the screen "jumps" when I change tabs within the advanced area.

Hmm. I wonder if this just might be a crap card. I am beginning to think so at this point. I might just return it and grab me a BFG card for the extra 50 bucks and see where that gets me.

kinda want the nv cooler but 30 is iffy.. plus stock cooler looks cool and isnt too loud... i guess i might want to artic silver it. 57C idle. no artifacts.

No problems using the softmod on my Gainward 6800. Took my 3dmark 03 score up by about 1,000. With the card overclocked to 360/780 I score 10,900. I don't think it has quite enough to hit 11k though.

I have my BFG unlocked and everything is great except it seems my memory won't get anywhere near what many here are achieving. Are there multiple manufacturers used for the RAM on these cards? 750 is highest I got and that isnt too reliable.

eVGA 6800, reference Nvidia model, successfully softmodded. No artifacts in any games or 3dmark. Have not overclocked it.

I was able to softmod it but my 3DMark05 score only went up 485 points (3480 to 3965). Shouldn't it have gone up a little more than that?

That is pretty good, increase-wise. Sounds fairly normal for 05, and it is about a 1,000 point increase on 03 I think (at least it was for me). If you have 3dmark03, you should be getting over 10,000 or so now if you run that bench.

I got a 1000 point increase in 3dmark03 and a 500 point increase in 3dmark05 as well.
Good stuff! The core on my card can't overclock very well. It maxes out around 365 and reaches a full load of about 72C. I decided to let it run at 350. My memory, on the other hand, is doing quite nicely. I've breached 850, and it feels like I may be able to hit 900. Memory bandwidth is the big hurter for this card compared to a GT right now, so I'm glad I can get my memory up.

What are you guys using to overclock? I used RivaTuner to unlock the pipes/vertex shaders but should I use it to overclock as well or is CoolBits better? Also, how are you guys testing your overclocks? Looping 3DMark? Finally, which should be overclocked first, memory or core? Or should they both be done at the same time?

I used RivaTuner... I have tested it by running 3dmark03 and 3mark05, and then playing some HL2 as well. I think you should perhaps do one at a time, and your memory will most likely overclock more than core.

bfg 6800, no go on 16 pipes but im at a stable 403/806 OC right now with stock cooling, gonna push some more.

No go on the pipes, Shaders unlocked without a problem. I was unable to unlock the 4th pipe and run 3dmark03 w/o a hitch, but would lock up every time I tried to play Farcry. The shader has been no problem. So far I have overclocked the card to about 400 core/800 Memory with zero problems and zero heating issues. Best score so far is 10191 on 3dmark03 with no tweaks or clean install. Card is a BFG 6800oc-nu from BB. Machine spec's are Dell 400SC, stock power supply, 1GB PC3200, PentIV 2.8, 800MHz, stock cooling. Card stays under 70 degrees C with stock cooling under full load. Pretty good deal for an under $200 card!!! GP

Just got to 410 core/870 on the memory clock speeds. Gave me a '03 score of 10573. 410 clock on core on mine is not stable while gaming though. It did cause lock ups while playing Farcry. GP

what are you guys using to OC? I'm using Rivatuner 15.2 with patch. I disabletheinterclock test and still got the same results. I was able to acheive 4706 on the F11 benchmark 3. I successfully unlocked with 16x6 with the a60 sticker and multicolor capitators.
