6800 Waterblock $125

While not the cheapest 6800 waterblock around, it maybe the only option to any of you water cooling freaks...

Dangerden has released thier 6800 GPU water block. $125 is not cheap but if you want to get that GT past 6800 Ultra levels this maybe the solution, and hopefully others will release there blocks soon driving these prices down.

Note this does cover the area that the air cooling blocks cover.

I will be reviewing one of these next week.

Looks sweet, but man $125 for a waterblock? It might be better just to get BFG's water cooled Ultra package, although availability of that is probably super low. I'd get it thought if I had the money, it covers the ram too!

In talking with one of the guys at Dangerden, they said some of there people are overclocking past the ultra speeds.

And water cooling the memory is very nice...

Another cool looking and well performing waterblock for the 6800 series is the Cool-Matic FX used on the watercooled Gainward Ultra, now avaible for around $100 at most merchants.

Upgradable (double the cost however) to also watercool ram on backside.

you spend $125 more on the cooling? The extra performance is definately not worth it. wasnt point of ocing is to save $ isnt it?

i dont like that idea, but hey, maybe its just me, but i dont have $125 to spend.

srry just felt like saying that. id rather see u guys spend the extra 125 to buy an ultra and oc that instead of buying a 6800gt and oc that to ultra speeds.

I'm running my GT at 460/1200 with load temps of about 47-49 degrees with the Dangerden block. Previously I was only able to hit 400/1100 and was running at 73-77 degrees under full load. If you are watercooling your CPU I highly suggest you pick up this block for your 6800... it's a great piece of equipment

the 6800 NU has slower memory than has no chance of reaching ultra speed even if it's cooled with liquid nitrogen

How many PCI slots will be blocked if you use this waterblock. One of the things I really dislike about most of the recent Nvidia cards is the fact that their heatsinks block access to at least one and sometimes 2 PCI slots located next to the AGP slot. I have alot of PCI cards in my systems and generally use most and sometimes all of my PCI slots. So, this is an important issue for me. So, if going watercooled and using this waterblock will give me back any PCI slots I may have lost by going with a regular air-cooled 6800, I just might be interested. Are there any wayerblocks that don't bloack any PCI slots? Are there any 6800, 6800GT, or 6800 Ultra cards (either water or air cooled) that don't block any PCI slots?

well, sure, it may not block the adjacent pci slot, but take into account it will probably drip a litlle on the other cards

AFAIK most NU and GT's have single slot air cooling solutions.

Holy high-end, Batman! :Q I was going to bash it b/c of the price, but it DOES cover all the ram and it is a quality piece of kit. I'd say if you can afford water cooling and a 6800, that this price isn't too out of line. Pricey yes, but you do get a quality product.

I used my OLD dangerden Maze4 to get 450/1.1 on my 6800gt, this is overpriced for what it is folks. Spend the money on an Ultra instead of this. My GDDR3 memory doesn't even have heatsinks on it and it runs overclocked like that without voltmods.. it barely gets warm.

Mine is running smooth as silk, only takes one slot, is very heavy and cools great. Dangerden really got it right with this block.

This is really geared to the people who want to do it right. If you are looking for that quiet case and are already doing a water cooling setup this is worth a look.

I am also getting 420 speeds on the core.

I agree. I use a Swiftech MCW50 with the 6800 series adapter plate. It's less than half the price of the DD block including the adapter plate and 1/2" barb inserts:

Can't say the blocked helped much for overclocking even though the card is now 40 degrees cooler under load. I've tried two GTs and neither were boosted by the water cooling. Unlike most, I take stability seriously, so if it doesn't loop 3DMark overnight, the speeds get lowered. I believe these 6800s are simply designed to run hot.

Also, like remagavon said, the memory doesn't need to be cooled. According to my Compunurse probe, my bare chips hardly reach 50 degrees C under load. They're not really thermally stressed by any means. If they were, then the ATI X800 series, which has the same RAM, would come with "cooling" on the memory. None of the X800 cards do. I have a set of copper RAM sinks I may stick on at a later date, but I'm not expecting any miracles out of them.
