It's the quality of the cores. The NV40 was the same core that was used in the 6800GT and Ultra. Lower rated cores were made into LEs and NUs.

I'm thinking they're doing something similar with the GS AGP except instead of releasing a different "GSX" extension (or something like that), they're sticking with the 12 pipes and offering higher core clocks.

hl:lc stock with 1024x768 2x/4x max quality got 44fps on the stress test

For comparison's sake, just ran the HL:LC at same settings, this is my "everyday overclock" (bump up higher for most games)

6800 AGP
350 core
800 mem
Unlocked to 16/6
62.23 FPS
Rig in sig

9800pro = 2829
6800GS@350 = 4261 (identical to joincamp's)
6800GS@425 = 5000
6800GS@425 with 4 pipes unlocked = 5590

My PC spec:
AMD 2600+ (333fsb)
2x512 Corsair

And go get a Zalman vf700! And install it right now!

Then give us temps! Both at 5v and 12v!

Then get Nibitor and up the voltage and tighten the ram timings!

Uhhhh AFAIK the only 7600GT AGP is made by Acer...and it's a full box with onboard graphics and an AGP slot, not a video card.

It's broke. The chip used is the same exact chip they've been making since the 6800gt originally came out. Which is why you can unlock it. If they where doing enough of a redesign to fix the purevideo it would be a 12 pipe not unlockable 110nm product like the pcie 6800gs is.
