6800GT ISSUES...HELP

Hey guys...had a 9800 pro at 440/780 and did pretty well in source but I like running 1280 X 1024 and things to look good so I bought an EVGA 6800GT. I am pretty disappointed because in the middle of firefights etc. it dips down into the 50FPS area. I didn't spend 400 bucks for that type of performance. I do have 16X AF with no AA.

I have a 3000+ @ 2.4 gig @ 240 fsb so I am sure my computer is not holding it back. With 2X AA on DoD it seems like it will get choppy from time to time.

Has anyone else had problems like this?

Kingmax PC4000...so really it is underclocked. Have run it up to 260 though...just to check

If you would have said "dips into the 20's", your disappointment would be understandable.
Can you tell us what game/s you were playing when this 50 dip happens.

I'm guessing he is talking about CS:S, and dips into the 50s would be about right with those settings and that system. If you want more framerate then turn things down.

Those numbers sound correct. On my system I have dips in to the 30's in 20v20 games, 1280*1024 4AA, 8AF.

Download the beta 66.32 drivers and go to the nvidia control panel and set it to quality. On quality, make sure the AA and AF optimizations are enabled. You will get a nice boost.
