Rig:
Athlon 64 3200+ (Newcastle core)
eVga 6800GT (not ocd)
1gig ram (kingston value)
DFI Lanparty UT nf3 250GB mobo
Forton 500 watt Blue Storm PSU
2xIDE HD and 2xSATA HD
2xCD/rom/dvd/burner
Noob here:
I'm having low FPS with a 6800 GT in CS:S. I have a Monitor from, no joke, 1995 that is 17". It cannot go over 1152x864. On some maps I get as low as 40 FPS. I tried turning off all eye candy and actually got lower FPS between 10-20 FPS.
I'm a little confused but it sounds like if I had a newer monitor, cranked my res up to 1600x1200, turned ALL the stuff way up (aniso and anti aliasing) I would get better FPS rates than I am now? On some levels I'm getting 40 FPS and lower. I talked to one guy with an x800 and he was getting 150+ FPS on the same map.
Thanks for your help I'm really confused. Maybe it's time to buy a newer monitor?
