Okie.... So i bought a new computer ...
bought from mwave.com

case: SILVERSTONE TJ05-ST
motherboard: ABIT AA8-DURAMAX
video card: LEADTEK GEFORCE 6800GT

so i spent the last few hours getting the case and mobo all setup...last thing to do was put the video card in. this is where i got the hang up =\ kinda hard to explain... but the video card needs a bit more clearance between the pci-express slot and the case. If i unscrew all the screws in the mobo then i can fit the card in, but then i can't screw down the mobo (besides 1 screw) because the holes in the mobo don't line up wit the case mounts.

heres a pic to hopefully give a better idea of my problem. u can see

pic of mobo screwed in w/ 1 screw -- only way to get video card in all the way. *ignore the hairbrush* hehe
pic of mobo screwed in all the way
pic of the video card when screws are all in

any ideas would be greatly helpful....even maybe who i should contact first about the issue.

Welcome to AT!

Have you tried bending the back of the case outwards a little bit? Some case sides can be a bit too inward or outward from the factory.

Also, does the card have it's backplate screwed on correctly? Maybe that is also slightly bent.

Forums are the first place I go for troubleshooting People here are generally friendly and very knowledgeable.

Looks like a micro-atx board, make sure you're using the right mounting holes (a bit obvious but hey, you never know).

Sometimes the clearance between the board and the back of the case gives cards a pretty snug fit. I have to give my cards a little push to get them seated right, try giving the cards a LITTLE force. Don't overdo it, if you're sure it won't go in then stop.

Good luck!

When the motherboard is secured in correctly, make sure the bottom tab on the back of the pci card goes into that little slot in the case, sometimes that doesnt line up and is what makes it seem like it doesnt fit

Put your board mounted on the stand offs. Can see the sides of them through the mounting holes on the board. Right now your mb is too far from the back. It should look a lot closer. Should be hard to see the slot the metal part of the pci devices go into in on the case.

viper, so screw the board directly into the case instead of the mounts?

won't the board be 2 low then?

when all the screws are in.. it lines up pretty good. but then the mobo won't fit..

i should take a pic of it wit all the screws in.

okie.. i edited first post w/ updated pics...

Nice eye, Loppy, anyway, Chico good luck finding a fairly-priced 6800GT PCI-e. You could get an AGP motherboard, or wait a while for PCI-e 6800GTs to get back into stock and prices to go down.

Good eyes. I didn't see that until you mentioned it.

Sorry, the slots are not compatible at all. You're going to have to return the AGP card and get the PCI-Express version.

i see 6800's cards all over but no 6800GT pci-e. ... maybe i'll just pick up a SAPPHIRE RADEON X800 PRO PCI EXPRESS 256MB OEM ... just saw a few on pricewatch for around $415. I would asume a X800 vs 6800GT are about same speeds... i heard the x800 actually is a bit better on that hl2 engine....

ati cards run better on hl2 engine i would recommend getting x800xt if you are going too because the x800pro doesnt match a 6800gt unless you flash to xt which isnt worth is considering the x800pro vivo pci-e is very expensive
