just wondered how lucky I got on my overclock.

here's my score with an NV41 PCIe chip on a Leadtek board. stable...
i haven't pushed it any farther yet...i haven't pushed it until it breaks but i don't want to destroy my card. just for safety i'm not keeping it at quite as high as these clocks.

450/850 MHz
5201 3dmark05

stock HSF
this chip is pretty damn good...
it's the same one that powers the Go6800 Ultra except it's on a 130nm process.

what's with mobile chips owning so much lately? Pentium M with a ASUS card and a Go6800 Ultra board...imagine... i wonder why they don't put the NV42 (110nm NV41) on a PCIe board. $400 Ultra anyone?

450/825 Leadtek 256MB PCI-E

Score about 9300 in 3dmark03

I don't see why people dog these so much.

'dog' them so much?! what do you mean? guess i'm not familiar with that one...

at clocks like this it makes me wonder why it's not clocked higher at the factory...this thing overclocks insanely.

Well everyone always says get the 6800GT or the 6600GT. Very few times is a 6800NU recommended, even though it is very fast.

Especially considering I got this as a newegg refurb for $230 shipped...

And if you don't mind hunting around on eBay, you can easily find a 6800NU for less than $200 shipped, which is the price I got for mine right after the launch of these cards. I've currently got mine overclocked to 350/850. RTHDIBL runs just fine, but if I play HL2 at 1600x1200 with 4x/8x AA/AF, I will get artifacts on my gun models once in a while if it's hot in my house. 840mhz is fine under all conditions. I'd really love to get some cooling on my memory. I also wish I had a better HSF for my card. I idle at around 65C softmodded to 16p/6vp, and load at around 75C during games. I've clocked the core up to 375mhz no issues before, and I'm sure I could reach 400mhz pretty easy, but I'd like to get some good cooling on there first. I get ~4200 marks in '05.

oh yeah I know what you mean...great card...I almost never hear it talked about, or never included in benchmarks. it's like it doesn't exist. wtf?

Its a good card but i'd rather have a pci-e x800pro vivo for $300 @ newegg which is a lot faster and can mod to a XT.

6600GT is cheaper and comes very close in performance, so that is why it gets recommended. Plus, the 6600GT is a lot less power hungry, so SLI is not as demanding. I have the 6800NU AGP, and it unlocked to full GT pipelines, so that is why I kept mine.

6600GT only comes close in performance with low res and no AA or AF. The 128-bit memory interface destroys it when using heavy textures. Look at some high res farcry benchmarks to see this.

The 6600GT is crippled at higher settings. Overclocked, my 6800NU is approximately equal to a slightly overclocked X800 XL.
