6800NU running hot.

My 6800 NU 16/6 unlocked is running hot at 59C. And occassionally artifacts and crashes. I don't have it overclocked.
What could it be?

I added new forceware but uninstalled it. But thought it might be caused by that so I reinstalled my old drivers. I'm not sure if the the drivers were cleaned out when I reinstalled my old drivers. could this be the problem.

*sigh* videocards run hotter then processors. period. is 59C your idle or load?
provide both. if your load is under 80C you are fine.

59c is my idle. I don't know what the load temp is because my computer crashes now.

if you get artifacts in games its obviously either your unlocked pipes or unlocked vshader. try them individually to see which one is defective, or if they both are.

I don't get artifacts right away. They come after I play for awhile. Then my comp crashes. And I turned them off just in case but still the same problems.

so the artifacts happen when your videocard is 100% stock? are you sure you did everything right? is the power connector connected? is your graphics card the only thing on the power line?
i dont think it could be a driver issue. by crash do you mean BSOD?

It artifacts then freeze crashes sometimes I get a blue screen with an error messages but I don't have time to read it because it reboots automatically from there. I'm pretty sure I set everything to factory.
It doesn't happen all the time but it seems like it's happening more and more frequently.

Is anything else in your system overclocked such as your CPU or memory? I had a similar problem with w/ my 6800NU. I would play a game and it would crash after awhile like it was a heat problem. It would crash hard to blue screen and immediately reboot. So I set my 6800NU to stock clocks and 12/5 and the problem was still there. I eventually found the problem to be my memory which was cheap Samsung PC2700. I had the memory running at 200 Mhz for over a year without issue but it just decided it didn't like that speed. I set the FSB to 166 Mhz and I could play for hours on end with no problems. I then bought new Corsair PC3200 memory and now I run at 218 Mhz with my 6800NU unlocked and overclocked with no problems.

For comparisons sake I checked my GPU temps and I idle around 55 C and load is in the 70s.

My guess is that Duster is the right track mentioning your RAM. I get the same problems Chosonman described when I have my memory running too fast. Temps listed look fine so I assume its your memory. Maybe try locking the RAM to it factory speed and use a CAS of 3. Leave your video card @ stock and try gaming then. If you still get BSOD/crashes then I'd suggest checking your CPU temps/speeds.
